We win 7-1 but gave up 7 hits and 8 walks. Got out of bases loaded 3 times with no runs scored. Their starter was dominant except for 5 pitches. But gave up 5 runs in 4-2/3 innings. Big win for us.

and strange weekend in SEC. All 8 series were sweeps. Has that ever happened before?

As much junk as he was throwing all it takes is hanging a few and hitters that can make him pay…and that’s what happened.

It was a strange game indeed. Glad to win it because you're typically going to pay a much higher price when you walk that many guys on a teams home field.

Random thoughts...

* Ole Miss will get hot at some point and finish somewhere around 15 SEC wins.

* Utermark looks like a future Major Leaguer to me.

* Ben Davis is maddening to root for. He can look hopeless for 3 or 4 pitches and then become Mariano Rivera for 2 pitches or 2 batters to get out of bad spots he puts himself in. It's not a winning formula long term.

* We were 1-8 at this point last year. This feels much better.

* The focus has to be on getting to 20 SEC wins. That feels like a near sure path to a Top 8 seed, which puts us in a sweet spot for Omaha.

* Two teams who've known only sweeps. Florida and Alabama. Both are 6-3.

* Although we're tied at the top, we have the most impressive SEC start with two road series already. The other 7-2 teams have played two home series. And we haven't played either of the weak sisters, SC and Mizzou.

I think the goal & expectation is more than 20 wins. Thats just 13-8 the rest of the way with 4 home series remaining.

It will be tough to win 20 SEC games, but I never thought we would be 6-3 at this point. I think 18 SEC wins will get a top 8 seed.

Our pitching looked very suspect today and yesterday and they still found a way to get big pitches and big outs when it was nut-cuttin' time. These guys keep finding a way to play that kind of ball, we will get to 20 wins.

We went 4-0 against two top RPI teams and top 20 teams. We get Gramling at home, then GA at home, UAB at home and then Tenn at home. We could get to four plus more SEC wins over the next two weeks. GA is primed to take one on the chin. Tenn is a average baseball team.

I like the way O’Connor has them believing they can overcome adversity in critical parts of the game and making them mentally tough. This time last year if there any little hiccup they would fold like a dollar tree lawn chair.

It’s infathomable how we dropped the series to the pigs. They are not good. Rough series to open with on the road, for sure.

I've been trying to study him. His release point is off some but when he follows thru & releases properly he's almost unhittable. Especially his slider.
