Yes a loss is a loss. Especially against a team like Minnesota which kills the net ranking a ton. But it’s not over. This is what makes basketball great because on any given season teams can lose games which they should win. Hats off to Willis because he has an NBA type game for sure. But we’re still in it. We just need some crazy wins against good road teams and to stay winning at home, and for some wins in the BIG10 tourney. It’s a hard task much harder now after loss to Minnesota but still possible lol.

I don’t think we have much of a chance at an NCAA bid but I truly expected us to lay an egg against a bad Maryland team and lose at home after a gift win today. After this debacle, I expect us to sweep Maryland. This team seems to think they are better than they are after a win and play better after a stinker…and today was a stinker.

Of course. Everyone can have their opinions. But if somehow we win games we aren’t suspected to win, and than win a a lot of games in the BIG10 tourney than I don’t want to hear anyone coming back to this thread and saying I was wrong. Of course it’s a near impossible task but it’s still possible.

That would put us at 13 - 7 in the B1G. If we take the next three (all winnable which includes two road games) and then go 4 and 5 with the gauntlet, we’d finish 12 - 8 in the B1G. Maybe enough to get an invite.

You know facts are facts and I agree with the bad losses. But I believe this is a NCAA tournament team they just don’t want it bad enough.

20-13 with 15-10 against power 6 teams would be enough to get in as a 11 seed

Also, other teams that are also in the bubble will have to lose so we will need to look for other teams losses as well. It will be very very stressful for the rest of the way for us who our still having NCAA hopes. I know a ton of fans quit already with thinking we’re in. Tournament or not I am enjoying attending games at JMA and winning games. Would you rather be in last place in BIG 10 as was the case not so long ago.

Yes we have many opportunities we just need to capitalize. And to hope Minnesota finishes pretty strong as well with their schedule. With Willis it’s very possible they will.

In the sense that it was on the road against a depleted team and solidify perception where we would have been ranked and would have given more confidence to the team when they face the gauntlet, Maybe winning these "winnable" games it wouldn't be called the gauntlet.

What I see is a group of hardworking guys who are wildly inconsistent from one game to the next, or even one half to the next. They don't seem to know how to keep that fire lit. I hope they continue to believe in themselves.

I do love how Rieber is coming on, and I thought our D was enough for us to win... even with Minny making a ton of highly contested shots. If we made more layups and open shots, this is a W. Cliff will be an absolute monster if he ever improves his offense. Hell, this team, as a whole, would be a b*tch to handle (for almost anybody) if they could shoot consistently. I'm hoping, but at this point, my expectations are not what they were.

now that’s a very fair statement one I do agree with. That has to do with finding the right playmakers in the beginning of the game who can make shots. Not always going down low to Cliff to start the game because hook is not his strong suit right now. And it just comes down to making shots when we’re open. Which obviously we struggle a ton with on the road.

Of course. Road wins along with recruiting are the only things I criticize pike on. Because until he can find some formula to start winning in both. This Rutgers team will most certainly not be even close to an average team next year with our stars gone.
