State Flag Redesign & Tragedy

The last week of July I worked on 3 designs. I watched the committee meeting and took notes to seriously design the "perfect" flag. I felt the Vexillologist (Clay Moss) had a lot of pull/knowledge/experience & that the committee would really take in consideration his guidance. So, the 29th i submitted 4 designs (even tho the limit was 3) and planned to revisit my old designs to perfect them and submit 3 more before deadline (even tho it was against the rules). Then on the 30th, my investment of new flag came to a halt. My mom was rushed to Tupelo (battling Pulmonary Fibrosis for nearly a decade). On the 31st, she passed away. Yesterday was my first day back in office after dealing with a week-long of getting things lined up for my dad. I say all this because I only submitted 4 designs & only 1 was chosen. Other Mississippians (possibly some of you) submitted a lot of my earlier designs on my behalf. Because of this, I have 6 designs still in the running. So I wanted to say how grateful I am because i never had those extra 2 days to tweak. Anyway, I just wanted to thank all of you & the pack-admins for supporting me (here & social media). God Bless!

I somehow missed the thread on your submissions. Do you mind sharing pictures of them, again?

I’ve always enjoyed your content.

I completely missed the part about your mother.

Condolences, brother

Which 6 are yours? I did notice that quite a few had used your magnolia design.

The last one is my favorite. I would have started flying it upon submission, if I were choosing.

If it’s not a top 5 candidate, I will be surprised. Regardless, great work

I still have my mother, but I lost my father a few years ago. It's different, from here on out. Life is just going to be different. You have permission to cry, you have permission to scream. And there will not be a day you don't think about her.

My condolences.

Sorry to hear about your mom.

You've done an awesome job with these. E1322 would get my vote if I had one. It and T1150 are in my top 5 if that means anything, lol. I really liked that red & white horizontal one too. Guess I like the red & white flags because so many states use the plain blue flags with a symbol in the middle. We've got a chance to make a unique flag that people recognize - if we end up with a completely blue flag or just the state seal, that would be a huge disappointment to me.

My condolences on your loss. Great work on the flags, call me cynical though, I have no confidence that they wont find some way to jack this up.

Hypothetically speaking, if one of your designs wins and you didn't submit it, how mad will you be if the submitter claims it as their own?

heh heh....I thought about that. but Shirley that wont happen. and if it does, itll be pretty easy to bust someones chops due to the dates on designs thru the years.

Thanks everyone for ur kind words. much love!
