I seen on here that the state title game will be played on the 9th. Thought it was played on the 11th? Any of you guys know when the game will be played for sure? I figured it would be the 11th which is a Saturday instead of a Thursday which is the 9th.

Looks like according to the VHSL website that the state championship games for 1A and 2A boys and girls will be on the 9th. In the past they've had the 5A and 6A championships on Friday and the rest on Saturday but doesn't look that way this year. The 1A girls championship game would be at 2:30 on a Thursday afternoon. I can see a semifinal game being played at that time if need be but not a state title game on a weekday afternoon.

Kinda confused me when I seen it. Definitely wasn't expecting to see it played on a Thursday. I had seen somewhere else that it would be played on the 11th...But don't remember where I seen it at.

I don't have a dog in this fight, but it does seem illogical to have a state championship game in the middle of the afternoon on a weekday. Sure the idea is that "anybody" should be able to get a day off from work to see their kid play in a big game once in a while, but in the real world it might not be that easy for some people.

Here is my suggestion....since they are already dragging out the time between the end of the regular season and the state title games an entire month, why not extend it one more week?

There are six divisions right, and they each have boys and girls, so 12 title games to be played. Play six of them at VCU all on one Saturday, with games at 10, 12, 2, 4, 6 and 8, and then play the other six the following Saturday. Or come up with a second location (Liberty? JMU? wherever?) and play them all on the same day.

With 12 games there isn't really a great way to do it but I would at least cut Thursday and Friday down to three games each and go with six on Saturday. Put the 3A and 5A boys in the prime time slots on Thursday and Friday as those are the games most likely to feature local teams.

Boys one location and girls at another.

That would be a good idea, but VHSL wants to be politically correct. They try to schedule girls games into time slots that will force fans who would not normally watch the game, to be there.

But as long as tournament is at VCU, there will always problems. Dumb decision by VHSL to use VCU.

I'm in favor of A, AA, AAA. 6 classifications is too much for Va. I think 4 classifications would be doable. The people making the decisions for VHSL need to be drug tested. Their set up and location choices were terrible.
