If this is the case I'm willing to bet the 1a championship game is at 3:00. And then the 3a follows at 7:00. I have a hunch the Friday night game is going to be the 4a championship game

Parking wise I'll take Carter Finley any day over UNC. And this is coming from a UNC fan.
My dad and brothers where always State fans but it just doubled down for me when my youngest daughter and her husband graduated from State, one brother is kinda conflicted since his oldest daughter graduated from the other school lol.
Most people around here a UNC fans which I never understood not now but growing up everyone grew tobacco and depended on NC State educated people at the Extension office.

For the purposes of serving as a neutral site for High School football championships, Wake Forest is a much better site than Chapel Hill. Parking is great. There is easy entrance access to both ends of the stadium. It’s more size appropriate also, so a better atmosphere.

I've meationed before that I believe UNC Charlotte stadium would be great for a high school championship it's not as big as these other D1 schools. I know it's a 3 1/2 hour drive for Tarboro but UNC was that far for Mitchell last year.

I would contend Wake Forest and Richardson stadium are virtually the same drive time from most Western schools while going to Charlotte adds 40 minutes drive to any school in the East.

We had two brothers on our team my senior year '82-'83 who played for Clemson I graduated with one of them. I actually was standing and talking to Danny Ford at our practice when he came to recruit him.

The central point is Greensboro for the most part based on the inter state. UNCC is not much farther from the 40/85 than Carter Finley.

I miss having wake Forest as the championship game site. Has a great atmosphere to it.
Biggest issue is if there are back to back games they do not have an extra set of dressing rooms for the second game participants. Really a bad set up. Wake would be perfect for the solo Friday night game or a single game on Saturday but not the doubleheaders.

As a Winston-Salem resident and WFU fan, I agree. As another poster noted, the parking around Truist Field is very easy and abundant. And it is a size stadium that is much better for a HS state title game. It still has way more seats than needed. But the crowds won't feel so swallowed up by empty seats as they do at Kenan and Carter Finley.

Plus it's more in the middle when you're talking about most East schools and most West teams though very close to the two west teams remaining especially Mt Airy about 36 mins but them Draughn and Eastern Randolph are your most eastern west teams Mitchell back it's 2 1/2+ hours but not as bad as NCSU & UNC.

If it were up to me I'd say they rotate it one year have it at UNC and NC State the next have it at Duke and trust Field. Although I wouldn't mind seeing a&t or North Carolina Central host one but I don't ever see that happening

Well if you're going to do that I would add UNC Charlotte in the rotation it's no further from the East schools as NCSU and UNC is from most West schools.

With four title games do all four at one facility. Couple of things I believe are important is as central location as possible, four dressing rooms, plentiful and onsite parking, seating for at least 20- 25,000 dispensed somewhat evenly.

Four dressing rooms or it is a problem for back to back games unless separated out 2.5 hours from end to kickoff or three in one day. Wake only has two and that is an issue. Everything else about Wake is great.

Most likely will not have 20 to 25k at a game but when you go back to back or three in a day it is an issue with fans coming in and leaving. Best is to do 4A on Friday night or as a final game and 1A as the middle game on Saturday. If a 2A or even 1A school is very nearby the site and has a strong following they may need to play a late game. Although 4A does anyone remember Davie at Wake Forest several years ago.

I do not consider The Triangle a central location. NC State and UNC Charlotte would be the two outliers, if you can play in Raleigh you can play at UNCC. A&T is the most central spot but do not like the track around the field or the horshoe stadium so much. Parking would be a beast.

The three best to me are Wake and UNCC.

NC State is too far east, too big of a venue, and the field is often crappy. Duke and UNC has parking and accessibility issues. if Wake had four dressing rooms it would be perfect. Not sure if UNCC has four at the stadium but the old and new gyms are about 1/4 mile so not an issue.

You could use the locker rooms at the baseball stadium next to Truist Field. It literally next door.

Also have the tennis center behind and Lawrence Joel across the road.

There’s something special about playing in an ACC stadium. The atmosphere is still good even in the big stadiums.

Playing at UNCC or A&T or anywhere else wouldn’t be as exciting in my opinion.

If you don’t play them at the ACC schools I’d rather go back to playing it at the highest rated teams home field on a Friday night.

Does Wake and Duke being private cause any problems for the NCHSAA as far as booking the field?

In the past the schools that wanted to get dressed earlier used local high schools. The schools are weird about their facilities although Wake is probably the best at working with the NCHSAA or was at one time.
Seemed to appreciate and support it a bit more.

New Bern used North Forsyth (I think) in 2007. They did most of their warmups there and rolled in on the buses about thirty minutes before kickoff. Liked it.

I saw too many **** shows. I seecrowd control and violence becoming an even bigger issue and I think that could be a detriment but who knows.

Last year the SC 5A was at Benedict College a small HBCU in Columbia. Big stadium, a little worn down but the Gaffney side (home side) was packed and it was so much better than Williams Brice would have been. 10,000 in a 20,000 or less stadium is rocking. 10,000 at UNC and NC State is dismal as they spread out and it just does not do it. Same with holding basketball at Carmichael or Reynolds as compared to the Dean Dome. UNREAL difference.
