I think 4 likely starters will be:

6'4" PG Bennett Stirtz
6'4" SG Brendan Hausen
6'10" F Alvaro Folgueiras
6'9" F Cam Manyawu

Who would be the 5th starter?

A lot of new faces for sure. There is a lot of optomism right now-much more than in recent years. Hope this "rebuild year" goes well so recruiting goes well immeiately. McCollum seems like a "good guy" and coach.

Banks will start somewhere. McCollum values experience with his system. And he can guard multiple positions. We need a 3 pt threat which is why I see Hausen starting but man with Howard’s athleticism it’s going to be hard to keep him off the court.

Anyone else feel Hausen being better served coming off the bench? Lethal shooter going against the other team's #2's. Of course if he's hot he plays starter minutes.

From what I have read Brendan has a solid all around game good passer and defender. Ben wouldn't pay a guy to come in here just as a three point specialist. Doesn't fit how he wants to play.

I’m not sure how others are feeling but I’m pretty pumped to see these new Hawkeyes. I think we could possibly be entering a golden era in IA MBB success.
I have no doubt he's an incredible coach, and I've said from day 1 he's hopefully our Bo Ryan, which he has a lot of similarities to. Doesn't need the best talent to succeed as he has a proven system that works.

While we all love us some Cooper, the intel coming out of fall practice is that Cooper is a little behind some others, especially on the defensive end.
Jirak & Sage have exceeded expectations & are trying to get into the top 8 or 9.
Banks is definitely competing for a starting position.

Playing for Fran it certainly makes sense being behind defensively. He won’t get much time out there unless he figures that out.

There a few potential starting lineups. I don't see this as one of them.

It's possible Coop starts. But if so, he will be paired with Banks at forward. And Alvaro would be the center. This would allow Coop to defend the 4, as Banks can defend the 3.

Much better option than Coop at 3

Ben McCollum on how Trey Thompson's transition to Iowa has been:

“Really good, particularly offensively. We knew he’d be able to do things offensively right away. He’s bouncy. He’s shooting a high percentage, finishes at the rim. I think defensively is the hardest part to pick up, and how quickly he can do that. And what positions he can guard at this level that quickly. But for a kid his age — he should be a senior in high school — what’s most impressive is his acclimation to being at a university that’s 30,000-plus students. How he engages with everybody. He’ll shake anyone’s hands. He’s such a good representative. He’s a kid that can be your leader into the future of the University of Iowa men’s basketball.”

I just watched Cam and Bennett's Media Day videos, and remember him saying that Hausen doesn't miss much. I sure like hearing that.

Out supporting Iowa soccer tonight.

6'4" Brendan Hausen; 6'10" Alvaro Folgueiras.

6'9" Trey?

Click or tap on image for larger view.

During one of the interviews, Bennett was asked how Alvaro was doing. He said he was adjusting well and that he was getting used to the lifting. He smiled and said that Robert Morris probably doesn't do much lifting. :ROFLMAO:
