Starmount Rams 2023

I posted this is the NWC thread as well.

Things are starting to look good at Starmount. The Rams got off to a slow start due to the transition of new coach.

They’ve been to several 7-on-7 in June and have done well. I saw them at Davie on Thursday and I see a difference in the group.

The team is athletic and has some options to do a lot of things. Coach Lloyd is pleased on how the team is progressing. They are getting better every day.

So as they head into the dead period, things are going in the right direction.

I’m excited to see what this group can do.

It's gonna take awhile but loud will get there there. Heard they looked good too. Collins kid looked good at QB. Not sure they have the horses for MA this year I heard they gave Reagan and west Rowan all they wanted. I mean it is bball on grass but it's something. MA is there when the pads come on and they are something. I'm looking forward to our game with them. We have some studs up front. I hate we dropped Starmount. Don't understand why but oh well.

Deana, how is Crater doing at running back? How is he after having both knee surgeries? Speed and strength there?

Both Allen and Collins have done well at QB. I don’t think Crater has been released from his doctor yet.

I know Collins is a good QB but I wouldn't mind seeing him in at receiver on some plays. He's a very elusive runner, has exceptional vision on the field. I heard that he won an award at App State Camp for the longest punt. Did you hear anything about that? While often overlooked I think having a punter like him is a difference maker in a game.

Yes he did win that award. I agree having a good punter can change the field position game. Collins can really boot the ball. I personally saw him kick a 50-yarders consistently.

Coach Lloyd had some options at QB so I’m not really concerned at that position.

He will be teaching weightlifting classes so that’s going to help the kids out as well. The guys in the trenches need to get stronger and conditioned.

Kinston Crater will be released from the doctor today and he has worked really hard to come back. I'm really excited about our backfield of him, AJ Pardue (who has put on 25 pounds of muscle since late November), and Preston Williams.

I wonder how his strength and speed are now after having surgery on both knees? Before the injuries he was on pace to be a handful for any opposing defense. If he can be close to that the Rams are gonna be dangerous. AJ is a grown man.

Nephew said the Floyd kid the 310 lb defensive lineman squatted 525 and they stopped him from doing anymore but he did it three times and then just put it on the rack. Holy cow. They decide to put that other giant in there the guard that's 67 275 and can run they're going to be trouble in the middle and outside. I was kind of thinking we were going to be able to mash them a little bit but geez not when they're that big and strong. But I'm sure we're going to have to try. We don't have much speed this year.

Agree on the best in 1a. We have a few back. We. Did lose coach whitt and his son to West stokes. That hurts. Plus he was a hell of a coach. We will be strong and powerful upfront though.

I'm anxious to see how y'all do this year. This will definitely be a new year with no Boaz at QB. I'm thankful that I got to see those teams. I would think that a lot of the underclassmen got a lot of playing time last year during the blowouts which should help with experience. Tell me about the QB

Not much to tell right now from what I understand. Two or three kids battling it out according to our coach. Somebody needs to step up.
