Some teams televise their spring football ‘game’. We keep our plans secret.

Cardell Williams was very impressive today! He is a true freshman QB from Houston. He graduated high school in December, to be here for spring practic. He’s very allusive, very quick, has a good arm & made some very impressive throws today! A redshirt year to add a little size would serve him well, but he looked like a future starter today.

Game thoughts: Pretty basic stuff was run. Both Braxton and Cardell Williams have good arms, either one could be inserted into this offense and run it effectively, with the added dimension of running the ball. Cardell is a mosquito of a guy…he will need to add a little bulk.

Owen Ostrowski is gonna be a beast for us. He was in on a bunch of plays.

We have some real speed in the WR group…they will need to be coached up in getting separation from their defender.

… but won't play for three years, if he doesn't portal.

Spring game is always a bit of mixed emotions. Nothing to do now but wait until the first Tuesday of June when the Phil Steele issue hits news stands.

That was a rite of passage when I was a student. We would skip class, fit five or six into my car, and drive down to Steve’s Sundry and get that and the Athlon issue when the doors opened. Half the time it was still in the box in the back.

Some youngsters were stepping up. Scot Alexander, a RS Fr. WR made some nice catches. Steven Anderson, also a RS Fr. at running back has some quick around the corner and straight line speed in open field. DeMarco Williams covered well & broke up a couple passes as a RS So. corner back.

Deneric Prince looks ready to rock. Braxton, Fuller and Cardel Williams all had some very good moments. It's bombs away with Williams and he was very close to hitting some deep balls (I think he hit one). All three looked very elusive in the pocket.

I'm so glad that Zack Long is back. Dude is virtually automatic on FG's & extra pts.

I saw Braxton's completion percentage, and maybe had a clue why he didn't do anything but run, or hand off everytime he came in for a play.

Remember when Long wasn't automatic early in his career, and we were wishing we had a kicker?
