I for one am not going to pay to attend the spring game. Just my personal preference and opinion.

I feel the concert should be a separate event.

Its only $25. You all make it out to be such a huge deal. Yet, I bet your one of the ones who complains about our facilities. How can we expand Davis Wade or pay our assistant coaches so they stay without full support from our fans? This is one reason we will always be a bottom feeder in the SEC......</p>

1. The Spring game has ALWAYS been free. It's a hyped up scrimmage.
2. Although I'm sure some of the money will go to athletics, but figuring a good many people will not be going to a scrimmage where you have to pay, most of it will probably go toward paying for the band.

Most people who are married with kids could easily look at spending over $100 just to go to a scrimmage. Count in hotels, parking, etc. that's a huge chunk of change. I'll give my donations to the Bulldog Club, but I'm not paying $25 to go to a scrimmage then a concert featuring a band I don't want to see.

Everyone certainly has a right to choose what they want to spend their money on. It's your right to stay home etc. Either pay it or don't. But do we need to have another thread about how $25 is going to break everyone's 401Kso that 10 more guys can toss their hair out of their eyes and proclaim that Sugarland's music is worthless? Threads like this make it sound like half of the message board is gonna have to send their kids to school with no shoes to afford this SBW event. My gosh, are we Southern Miss?

Seriously, the school is making an effort to market to a broader customer base and some just can't see the forest for the trees. It's about getting potential new customers on to campus and into the stadium. Not so that the same 15k people can see the same glorified shell drill of a scrimmage. On top of that, for $25, a person is getting the scrimmage AND whether you like their music or not, a concert ticket to see any national act is way more than $25 so I'd say the Ath Dept has provided an opportunity for some families incentral/north MSan affordable opportunity to see a concert they may have otherwise never been able to afford at over double the cost of this one. In the meantime, some of them might actually enjoy the spring game, being on campus, the atmosphere of the stadium and decide to buy themselves a Maroon Mini Pack or something this season and attend some games. Just a thought.

I don't see the big deal. I am taking my wife and two kids and going to enjoy the game and concert afterwards. I am surprised so many people seem to have a problem with paying $25 for a ticket.

That's not true. I was in school in the late 90s. The spring games always had a small entrance fee. Not much, something like $5 or $10

woulda been 10, but I'll be in jxn doing the warrior dash. Or it will be doing me. Either way I won't be there.

For you single guys, it's ladies night at Davis-Wade. Think about that.

and it's because of Sugarland. I absolutely hate watchingour spring game because it bores me to death, but I'll be there in order to keep the peace.
