LWE vs Maine South - championship level football in week 1. I have to go with Jonas and East. Can't wait to see what he does with a defense that can get stops and extra possessions. But MS is never out of it, if they can keep it close I wouldn't be surprised if they pull it out at the end.

LWE vs Maine South is definitely one of the more hyped games in recent years from both teams. Arguably two top 3 teams in 8A going at it and both of tons of talent and firepower. The matchup I’m honestly most looking forward to in this game is Maine South’s offensive line vs East’s defensive line. Maine South’s line is huge and have a ton of experience. They can also move too which is scary. While there are rumblings that this is one of the better defensive lines that East has had and that’s saying a lot with them. All 4 of them played in big games last year and both their ends are P4 recruits. Im going with East to win but definitely won’t be an easy win by any means.

It was a close call. Very evenly-matched teams and should be a great game. Both teams need the win badly in that division. Andrew has one of the better groups they've had in a long time, so they get the nod.

Now Andrew won the Soph conference last season, I believe, but it is not even the same league now. Furthermore, I am reasonably sure LWW had several sophs playing up last year.

Agree with everything you say. I am also interested to see LWE QB plays and how Maine South defense stacks up against East’s offense. Should be a barn burner for a first game. I see 5 top big school programs in Illinois. LA, LWE, MC, ESL and MS. There are a few others but if a school is going to represent Illinois I believe these schools play at the highest level. This game will be on par with what we saw in MC Vs ESL last year. Much respect for both programs. MS & LWE are always well prepared and I very tough out. Someone is going to lose but in this first game it truly is a toss up. I will take the Griffins if for no other reason they are at home.

Jonas Williams faced Maine South his freshman year round one. Didn’t play very well all be it he was a freshman. Guarantee he has had this game circled down for awhile and he’ll be ready. I agree with your take on it being on par with MC and ESL. Although East and Maine South have played each other before I think we all feel this game has been hyped up for a long time as these two were set to face in the playoffs a few times. Both teams have really good quarterbacks and skill positions and also solid line play so definitely will be an elite game

I think you’re right with LWW playing some sophomores up. Andrew returns 9 starters on offense and 6 on defense and almost beat LWW last year in week 9. I love this matchup every year. Two evenly matched teams that always brawl it out. LWW has a good home field advantage too. Wish both were still playing their conference rivals Bradley and LWC
