Mr. Earl and I are very disappointed as we had rooms and tickets for the scuffle. It could be one of our last tournaments. I have until midnight tomorrow to cancel our rooms and will unless the entrants are updated with our starters going. To be fair to David and staff he never said who was going but it was on our schedule and I do think Fans should have had a better understanding on who was going before 3 days of the tournament. Of course still going to Big 12 and Nationals but after this year I believe Flo or ESPN will be my link to viewing Tournaments. 65 years of watching in person is about to come to an end.Well that is very disappointing but only because I wanted to see more orange.

Well, I am certainly not going to cancel season tickets or Big12 but as for any future tournaments I will be watching via Flo or ESPN. I am not mad at anyone and I still bleed orange but this would have been the last out of state tournament that Mr. Earl and I attended. I have rooms for Nationals in Cleveland this year but I am debating with myself about going. Sharing the rooms with KC Scott and J Carl so will not have to cancel the room if I decide not to go.Cancel your trip, but don’t quit going to stuff!
Unless its made clear that the starters are going, I wont go to any of those tournaments with plans to support OK State.. In the past few years it seems super risky to pay the money for plane tickets, hotels, etc with hopes of seeing the starters compete.. There have been too many times now where it ends up being backups and while I understand the need to keep ones cards close to the vest in some respects, its super disappointing as a fan... So if the team wants a bigger support section for out of state tournaments, make your intentions clear early enough for people to have the opportunity to make a informed decision.Mr. Earl and I are very disappointed as we had rooms and tickets for the scuffle. I get that we are sending backups but wonder why we aren’t sending more backups? No Rin, Braydon Thompson, Jersey Robb, Gary Steen? I figured no RoutledgeHere's who Flo says is registered for us:
133: Figs, Smith
141: JJ
149: Kolter, Cutter
197: Austin
Wonder what’s up with Thompson? He hasn’t wrestled all season. Medical redshirt?I get that we are sending backups but wonder why we aren’t sending more backups? No Rin, Braydon Thompson, Jersey Robb, Gary Steen? I figured no Routledge
Why, is Routledge hurt? He should still have a few dates left and wrestle unattached this semesterI get that we are sending backups but wonder why we aren’t sending more backups? No Rin, Braydon Thompson, Jersey Robb, Gary Steen? I figured no Routledge
You are probably right about the Soldier Salute, I just figured Routledge wouldn’t go because he has wrestled at 2 duals and a tournament and they might want to use him for upcoming duals. Why, is Routledge hurt? He should still have a few dates left and wrestle unattached this semester
We are listed as participants at the Soldier Salute, so perhaps some of the guys you listed will be there?
Gotcha that makes senseYou are probably right about the Soldier Salute, I just figured Routledge wouldn’t go because he has wrestled at 2 duals and a tournament and they might want to use him for upcoming duals.
No one has ever been able to explain why it’s so important to hide who is going to in season tournaments. How does it give us a competitive advantage? I heard rumblings for two - three weeks starters weren’t going. And if I heard, that means team knew well before that. and let’s say it gives a tiny competitive advantage somehow-is it worth alienating lets say 20-50 hardcore fans that had made plans to go? I just don’t get it.Unless its made clear that the starters are going, I wont go to any of those tournaments with plans to support OK State.. My assumption was that while they may have expectations about who they are going to send, they are not 100% sure and want to keep all options on the table until the very last minute. No one has ever been able to explain why it’s so important to hide who is going to in season tournaments. Johnson was up 10-1 when he got the first period pin.Figueroa with a 16-6 win in the round of 32. He will wrestle Mougalion from Penn in the round of 16.
Sam Smith was teched by Monteperto of UVA and is into the consolations.
J.J. McComas barely loses to Lexus of Maryland 9-7 in the round of 32.
Kolter Burton beaten in the round of 32 by K. Smith of Navy 7-1.
Austin Johnson won his round of 64 match over McGrory of Duke 10-1.
only 2 wins so far
Not that different from football. You can play up to 4 out of the 12 regular season games plus postseason games and keep your redshirt.Non related. But being able to wrestle 5 dates and still keep your redshirt is wild to me. That’s basically a third to a half of a season for many.
Kolter was not eliminated by forfeit, not sure what’s going on with the brackets… Will face May of Bellamine in the cons.Kolter Burton out at 149 with a medical forfeit.
J.J. McComas wins his consolation match by MD over Washington of Davidson 15-4.
You are right he isn't just out of shape, he just seems to not care about wrestling and quits when it gets tough. He had the lead has 2 hands on a leg, his opponent puts pressure on him, and he lets go of the leg to give up the takedown and then gives up the wrist and gets turned twice for 2 points each time. He should just quit wrestling.Richie Figs up big again only to surrender his lead and riding tiime by the end of the first period. His defense is non-existent and then gets pinned..
Yeah, I hate to be too judgmental but he is definitely just going through the motions on the mat. He either doesn’t like Wrestling or has just lost all confidence after his initial burst and doesn’t care enough to rally after adversity sets in. It’s really hard to believe he was a national champ 2 years ago.You are right he isn't just out of shape, he just seems to not care about wrestling and quits when it gets tough. Then they could say it’s not likely the starters will go. They knew weeks ago. When you are talking a non revenue sport transparency with fans is important IMOMy assumption was that while they may have expectations about who they are going to send, they are not 100% sure and want to keep all options on the table until the very last minute.
It made it on the schedule which to me implies that it's a starter event. All the various tournaments we send unattached guys to and so on are never listed. SS is big enough we should be sending the A team in if we are going. Then they could say it’s not likely the starters will go. They knew weeks ago. How familiar are you with NCAA rules? Can you send starters if you don’t have it on the official schedule? *it would leak either wayIt made it on the schedule which to me implies that it's a starter event. Don't have the rule book in front of me so no idea how official scheduling works especially for tournaments. Just think it was a big let down to see it on the schedule and not have any key guys going. Personally think it would have been beneficial for a few of the starters to go like Casey and Ryder to help fatten up the win column. How familiar are you with NCAA rules? I don’t know all the reasons for putting it on the schedule and then not sending a starter or sending a bunch of guys? It’s part of it…
