Interview with SE's coach on the pay side was good. Long story short he feels outside of a handful of programs SE is right there with everyone else.

SE has very good regular seasons in an awful conference. They have never made it past the second round

Cool if they bring Bartlett or Huntley as an #8?

Can't see it happening. MV and NV left the upstate 8 because they didn't like traveling to St. Charles. Why would they now want to travel another 15-20 minutes north each way.

Glenbard West and York would be the best fit here. Would enable good competition in DVC around more similar schools, especially in Olympic sports.

South Elgin unfortunately would linger in the bottom of the conference year in and year out if they were to depart for the DVC. I agree the DVC needs to find someone to jump aboard but I think schools are just too scared to compete in football.

I saw South Elgin play at Marist last year. Despite the loss, I thought this was a program that was close to being relevant in the playoffs. They were well coached, executed well, and had some good players. Unfortunately, their conference is garbage and they are never tested and have to pull your starters at half. You can’t have nine weeks of that and expect to go into a battle tested Marist or equivalent team and expect your kids to be up for it. If SE can play in dukane, they will be way more of a threat in the playoffs. They are doing the right things, but just need more competition.

As much as we like to focus on football, because this is a football board, ADs are usually looking at the full range of sports.

Transportation costs are one of the top 3 expenses for athletic budgets. ADs are looking to reduce transportation costs wherever they can. This is why it is so critical to have geographically tight conferences.
