I have no idea why conferences serious about baseball are against this. Really disappointed in this.

I'm confused as well. The SEC proposed this, correct? Are the other conferences cutting off their noses to spite their faces in fear of the "rich getting richer"?

Because the conferences that are serious about baseball have the means to pay a 3rd & 4th “volunteer” coach thru camps and other sources .... it’s the smaller schools who are serious about baseball that don’t have the means....

I’ve seen two reasons citied:

A) Not feeling like an extra coach is required for softball
B) Concerns that suddenly several other sports will want additional coaches

Most coaches see it as a way to get more coaches employed and with benefits. I think some might look at it as giving a school willing to pay for an assistant an advantage over schools who don't. It would help in recruiting and actually have more coaches for players development.

I think it lets you know what schools really care about baseball. It was surprising that FSU and UNC both voted and that was the deciding votes.

SOURCES: HUGE news for college baseball. I’m told that @DemonDeacons athletic director Ron Wellman had a change of heart and flipped Wake’s vote to a ‘YES’ for the third coach proposal. That effectively makes the #ACC a ‘YES’ vote barring a last second surprise.Wow.— Kendall Rogers (@KendallRogers) April 17, 2019

imagine being an AD and voting no, then running into your volunteer assistant coach at a function or event....yikes.

I can't stop watching that... I bet that kid is the only player in coach pitch history to start a bench clearing brawl.
