Probably because the sound system was not working properly.
The support system around RU athletics needs to get better. These people need to stop acting like state employees at the DMV and have some pride in what they are doing. We see too much of this stuff around the facilities. I know Ash was on it when he started and he was right. The Hale Center was clearly not being kept up properly, among other facilities.
It's a socialistic--communistic plot--LOL! But seriously, I agree with you. These kinds of things should no longer be happening here.
It appears that the Hale Center will be rectified as part of the phase 1/phase 2 plan. As for the sound system in the RAC, that should not be an issue. I believe they put a new system in with a good firm who understands acoustics. Maybe as some have said that the audio system along with the video system was malfunctioning at yesterday's game. Let's hope that's the case.
I did notice that they changed the layout of the ring scoreboard and banner boards, they now have the "chainmail" in the background and a little different font and layout. In doing that, someone probably deleted 10 lines of code that included sending sound to the speakers, running instant replays, etc. Nothing too surprising from RU athletics, especially around the basketball program. Heck, Eddie Jordan's head coach banner still hangs right above the student section and we are 4 games in.
The words head coach above his name are gone though. Dumb that it was put up there in the first place. All of the women's accolades dwarf the men's so Eddie's banner was thrown up there alongside Stringer's HoF banner to compensate.
attention to detail continues for the football program but not the basketball program apparently
Here's a funny scene I saw at the football game Saturday. It was about 7 pm and 5 RU custodians were spraying and cleaning the Football Hall of Fame display on the wall behind sect 128. They could only clean to as far as their arms could reach because they didn't have a ladder. Also a supervisor was watching them. It almost looked like a publicity op.
Still not sure why EJ has his own banner and isn't one of the retired numbers. So dumb and the usual lack of attention to detail.
It's been noticed. Or shall I say it was noticed in the past by certain visitors. B1G visitors. Up to RU to fix it.
Can't argue with that.
I know it seems that way but it's an Athletics thing in general.
