He may have been our worst defensive player all year and showed zero sign of improvement guarding the ball screen. That said, his offensive game will only get better, we have to keep players for continuity and experience. But he’ll have big offers elsewhere

Was the brightest point of season. I hope he comes back. I fear he won't.

He’s got a ton of potential on offense, and showed a lot that we haven’t seen in years here at his position.

His defense is putrid.

Only way I want him back is if he’s committed on defense, and I don’t know if he has it in him based on what I watched this season.

He’s willing on defense. He just needs to learn and get stronger. He’s got skills that are pretty rare. Holding onto him is critical.

I was pleasantly surprised and overall he’s a net positive. But he really needs to improve on D and learn how to pass out of the post. Coaches know they can collapse on him and he’ll still never kick it out.

I’ll be shocked if he’s back. He wants a bag and someone will be willing to pay him. It shouldn’t be us. We need a true rim protector and they cost money.

The roster is filled with flawed players and a coaching staff that has failed to teach basic fundamentals at both ends of the court. There must be changes in the coaching staff and players from the transfer portal that can create and make shots off the dribble including 3 pointers.Sadly, I don't expect coaching changes and the roster will be just another version of the same mediocrity.

Agree with you 100% and this goes for many sports here but as usual with Rutgers screwing up and no AD. In place for at least another 5 months we are subjected to another year of crap and mediocrity in many sports

His defense, at its current level, is rate limiting. It’s not simply a matter of “what frosh doesn’t need defensive work?”. There’s such a think as a player who is an efficient scorer, but at the same time can’t help a team win because their negatives on D outweigh the positives on offense. Right now that is where I see Lathan and he has miles and miles to go on D to move closer to the other side. He really hurts us right now even when providing offense. If our strategy for next season is to build a roster around retaining him, my prediction is that Pike will be gone for sure at the season’s conclusion. In my opinion, Pike win following this approach.

Lathan must be a big part of our team next year. His offense for our center was the best since Greg Echnique . He plays hard. He can get you a bucket down low . He hits his foul shots finishing 6th in the entire BIG 10 at 86% is amazing.
His defense has a way to go but the entire team and each player played lousy defense all year. Pike has to fix that with at least 2 guards that are 2 way players and a rim protector.
Good teams in college basketball have depth at multiple positions. Alabama has 3 centers vying for time with Cliff. We will need 3 centers with Lathan, a rim protector transfer , and the freshman Ware. Not sure if Manny is coming back but he has not helped in any appreciable way so not sure her should be in our future plans.
I remind everyone Lathan is a freshman who went against the top players in the Big 10. He will get better offensively , defending , passing out of a double team , rebounding and on every way.
Those of you not wanting him back or making up crap like he only wants a big bag and will give up starting for a BiG 10 team in his sophomore year , are not thinking straight. Common sense applies here.

And an indictment of the coaching staff for allowing him.

I've just been surprised how someone his size appears to have such a limited vertical. Does he still need to drop weight?
Vertical leaping ability has nothing to do with size

For every 1 point Lathan scores he gives up 3 points on the defensive end
