How Does Rhode Island (6-3) have votes on both top 25 polls while Rutgers (10-3) has none.

Rhode Island defeated Seton Hall but has losses @ Nevada, vs. # 16 Virginia, vs. Alabama. Besides Seton Hall, their other wins are against UNC Asheville, Holy Cross, Brown, Providence and Charleston.

We also defeated Seton Hall, and our losses are against #2 Michigan State, #25 Florida State and a good Minnesota team that was ranked #14 when we played them. I know the rest of our out-of-conference wins are nothing to write home about, but it still feels like our resumes are similar. In fact, I would argue their losses are worse.

I know we are not a Top 25 team, but is it too much to ask for a single vote!? Rhode Island got 2 in the AP and 6 in the coaches.

they started higher...At the beginning of the yearI believe the may have been ranked or very close....their SOS is better than ours, our OOC wins are literally the worst of the worst. Their SOS is 9 compared to RU which is 156. I do not see the issue here

fair point. I wouldn't get hung up on top 25 votes. I believe we got a few last year after our OOC games. By year's end, we didn't deserve them.

First off, Rhode Island finished last season 25-10 and advanced to the 2nd round of the NCAA tournament, they're going to get the benefit of perception out of the gate.

Second, their strength of schedule is WAY higher than ours.

Among other things, they are probably getting too much credit for beating an overrated Providence team that Minny blew out in Providence.

As far as I'm concerned, toss SOS out the window. We played up to our toughest opponents. They lost to unranked teams.

You've given too much credit to losses to solid teams. Winning ... didn't happen. Upgrade the schedule. Might even sell more tickets and parking tags.

Plus their coach is named Hurley.

I've been thinking about SOS recently. A #50 team can play teams ranked 10, 11 12, 190, 191 & 192 or teams 97-102. Both will show the same SOS but in one circumstance the team is 3-3 and the other 5-1. RU should get away from scheduling the 250-300+ ranked programs which kill the SOS and try for teams around 150 - 200 to still likely get the win.

Isn't the margin of victory/loss and home/away factored in? So in your example if you lose all 3 games by 1 point on the road while destroying the other 3 teams by 25 pts each, you might still be ranked higher than the 5-1 team. Not sure, just asking.
