We all know that overall record will go towards seeding the teams for what is the conference tournament but from what I've seen as many as five teams have a shot at winning this thing. Northumberland and Lancaster appear to be the 1 or 2 in what order to be determined. Essex went 2 OTs with Northumberland Friday night and Rappahannock's starting five is as good as any in the league although they have 4 losses by 3 or less points. Pre-season favorite W&L appears to be on a fade with 4 league losses in their last 4 outings. Colonial Beach has played a tough non-district schedule and owns wins over Essex --- before Essex got some important additions -- and W&L.
As for the 7th team in the conference, I see that Rappahannock County is 2-11 vs. public schools.
So, let's hope these teams keep up their competitive ways. It's not the best basketball I've seen in these parts but it's better than the past couple years and one may just make the state tournament.
