They hit .292 as a team compared to .277 for us. Obviously not walking them is a good strategy, but calling them a “miserable” hitting team is a pretty big reach, and really wouldn’t say much for us.

They are hitting .217 in post season. That is miserable and not a reach. It took all they had to put up runs on a depleted NC State team yesterday.

We are hitting about .175 in Omaha and only .230 since the start of the Super Regional. And they’ve already proven capable of scoring 5-6 runs per game against our pitching. I’m a lot more worried about their hitting than I was about Texas.

They are actually similar to Texas in terms of how they are built. Strong starting pitching, decent bullpen and offense, very dangerous on the bases. They have struggled to hit in Omaha. Gotta make them earn it.

They also hit .217 against our pitching (Mac, Bednar, and Fristoe) in our season series in Nashville (20 for 92). We gave up 13 walks in that series. Of those 13, 8 of those runners scored. Almost half of the runs they scored on us that weekend were a result of walks.

As I said in my original reply and others have echoed DO NOT WALK THEM and we will be fine.

Christian needs to have the best night of his career, throwing the ball. The closer he gets to that record setting night, the better we will fare. Playing a great offensive game would help a lot, too. Think how nice a 4-5 run lead at the end of the first would look.

You’ll get no argument from me on not walking them. Unfortunately, that hasn’t always been a strong suit from the guys we are going to have to rely on in Games 1 and 2. Gonna have to be able to pitch around trouble, too, or have the bats step up.

The same way we've been doing it Omaha. Keep it close (trailing by no more than 2), work the pitch count to drain the starter and get him out by the end of the 5rh or 6rh and get I to their bullpen. That's my strategy all 3 games.

This will be a big part too. Have to be aggressive and quit taking **** right down the middle. We need to figure out a way to deal with that sinker crap, because we know we will see a healthy dose of it.
