Let’s try to keep this civil so it won’t get locked. Vance looks like he left the negotiations in a huff. No surprise really. There is no way in heck any American President could agree to anything close to what Iran was saying were the accepted negotiating points. I was afraid Trump might, but to his credit he didn’t. Hormuz must be free for navigation with no restrictions. That can’t be negotiable. To me, we have no choice. We have to suck it up, take the economic hit, and it will hit us all, and start taking out Iran’s oil infrastructure. Don’t take it, destroy it. We can do that easily. If the Gulf Arabs can’t export through Hormuz then Iran can’t be allowed to either. If that doesn’t work, work your way down through every level of their infrastructure. This is a REAL war. A declaration to that effect would be a really good step, although too many politicians on both sides of the isle would probably balk at that. The other thing is we all, US, the Euros, the Saudis, South Korea, Japan, the UAE, and a host of others have to finance and build pipelines and railroads that render Hormuz impactless. Iran can not be allowed to have an economic veto over the world economy. Iran has been causing massive trouble worldwide since 1979. It is time to deal with them. The cost, as bad as it will be now, will be much less than it would be later. I wish we had other leaders running our efforts, but we have to work with what we have. It also goes without saying that defense spending has to be increased drastically. The “peace dividend” if it ever really existed, is over. We dug ourselves into a huge hole. Hopefully it isn’t too late to recover. IF NATO won’t help, then so be it. It has to be done. Isolationism won’t protect us. We have to act in our own self interest..NOW.
