Back in the mid 70's a group of us were always welcome to drop by a couples house to watch SNL with them.
It may have been a lame thing to do on a Saturday night but time spent with that great group of friends at those gatherings was always among my fondest memories. And if the SNL skits were funny so much the better!

Neither do I, as long as their politics aren't shoved in my face, which unfortunately, "entertainers" due to some kind of odd psychological derangement and unrealistic perception of self-importance always feel a need to do.
One of the very few people I think, that never cared for SNL. Most over rated show of all time. IMO
I did watch the Netflix original show recently about SNL and its opening, wanted to like it...Wasn't really my cup o tea but I did appreciate all the historical personalities and behind the scenes looks.

There were some lean years, and always some cringe-worthy sketches- but there have also been countless brilliant and hilarious moments.

Was watching some of the skits late last night and this morning. The Q&A was a pretty good session. Asking how Ryan Reynolds was and him saying “Good .. why what have you heard?”
Adam Sandler song crushed. Thought weekend update was good especially Bill Murray part.
Great to see Eddie Murphy back too.
50 years is pretty awesome for a TV show. Lorne Michaels always said that when people think of their favorite era it’s usually when they were in high school.
PS I don’t remember Dana Carvey or Bill Hader in anything - did I miss it?

So do non-entertainers. One just has a camera in front of them. The other has Facebook memes and Husker message boards.
I have all the best of SNL from the 70's on VHS believe it or not and I have a vhs player so watch it often.
I bet Prince was rolling over in his grave listening to Miley’s “Nothing Compares To You” cover. Goodness. Miley was doing everything she could to keep that other singer in key.
There is a time when super star performers need to hang it up, but they can't seem to let it go. I love Simon and Garfunkel's music, but Paul needs to perform to his family only, I will say he still knows how to play his guitar. As far as Paul McCartney goes, he may also need to finally hang it up soon. I saw Paul play at the Hollywood Bowl years ago and he was not very good it was a case of on one night off another.
As a teenager of the sixties, I got to witness the greatness of most of the great Rock and Roller bands. Back in the 60's and 70's rock and roll was beyond great, it was the golden age of rock and roll, but time has a way of taking away the best of what they are capable of, thank heavens we still can listen to this iconic music through our electronics we have at home and in our cars. Rock On!

Pretty tough to watch sometimes. I saw Brian Wilson and his band tour the 50th anniversary of Pet Sounds. They carried him throughout and most of the vocals were from other members of the giant band, but it was still cool to see the creator of a legendary album play it from end to end in person. Didn’t need to see it again but glad I went.
It worked for me, sort of when McCartney's perky tunes were offset by Lennon's sarcastic pessimism. As I understand it, when writing a song McCartney wrote the verses and Lennon the chorus (or vice versa). That is why the "We can work it out" is offset by "Life is very short and there's no time". But without Lennon's modulation, McCartney's music is largely perky tunes *Stormy Love", "Silly Love Songs").
I enjoyed most of the Beatles’ music but the only one I liked as a solo artist was George Harrison.
Hader and Aykroid were not there. Hader has massive anxiety issues. Timberlake should have been there

My favorite also, loved his guitar work in everything he did, country, jazz, blues, rock n roll and of course, rockabilly. Carl Perkins was one of his greatest influences and just like Keith Richards his play was instrumental to the group's success.
Honestly this is just kinda a bad take.
If you go back and watch those 70’s shows, you ain’t gonna laugh…as evidenced by the Belushi skit in the snow last night.
