Do CB and Barnes have some sort of beef? A bit surprised we’ve appealed twice given the score

We sat out a starter and played bench rotation the entire game. 10 Heels got double digit minutes.

Short of telling your team to not play at all this is not running up the score.

dook, by comparison, only played 8 leaving two available women out of the game despite a 50 pt lead. Their Johnson and Martin have played in only 2 games all season. I have not heard any indication those two are injured

SMU’s flood of oil money has not reached the women’s team. Sheesh.
…yet. They turned their volleyball program into a perennial top 10 team basically overnight. They are linked to every single high profile transfer in volleyball because of the money. By hiring Barnes, I would expect they’re gonna try to do the same thing with basketball for sure.

Maybe CB, a former mid major coach, had a problem with Barnes’s comments about schools hiring mid major coaches. I doubt that played into it but just saying Barnes likes to talk.

Most understated upside about Taliyah Henderson is her ability to finish through contact… she makes some legit tough shot sometimes… And she was 6-for-6 from the field again today.
When her overall skills catch up to her athletic abilities, LOOK OUT. She just seems to just dance and bounce around the court like gravity doesn’t have the same effect as it does for everyone else.

Here’s my obsessive worrier self again but in the post game presser CB hedged on whether Kelly would play Sunday or not. Gave a “hope so” answer. I’m thinking she will play but maybe fewer minutes than we would like.

Great win. They played to the standard. The shared the ball very well. The movement of the ball was excellent. Way to go ladies. On to the next game. Go Heels!

Beating any ACC team by 52 points is remarkable. There were some sloppy moments, as 20 turnovers attest, but I really think some were due to our "getting fancy" with some passes. That can happen when you're 30 points ahead. SMU really didn't have a chance - and you have to feel for Coach Barnes, she was handed a bag of doggy-doo with a team with zero returning players. The Mustangs played hard and had some good moments. In a couple of years, watch out.

Congratulations to Coach Banghart on win #400.

There was one play where she jumped over the end line closest to our bench in pursuit of the ball; I had a great view of her hustle from my vantage point in corner section 110. Next thing I knew, she seemed to beat some of our players back down the court to get in position in the lane on defense. That young woman has some kind of speed for sure!

If you love basketball you have to love watch Taliyah IMO. She is track speed fast, athletic, compete's hard
has a nice 3 pt shot and can drive it to the rim plus she is 6ft2 and has long arms. A lot to love.
I think she is going to be a future star and might take the Nivar role.

This is a special freshman class with Henderson, Brooks(also a future star), Queroz and Astakhova who is coming along nicely.

I had the same thoughts about Nivar and Taliyah. A comparable (or better?) athlete with perhaps better offensive skills. She still has a ways to go on defense, seems to get lost at times but the physical ability is absolutely there.

I agree completely. I've mentioned before that Henderson seems to be the heir (or heiress) apparent to Nivar. Her defensive skills and non-stop motor are so impressive. Her offense is a work in progress but it is already almost as good as Indya's in my opinion. So much upside. This class is special.

IF you watch the Louisville Game, her offense was fine. She just needs more playing time and she needs more opportunities to shot the ball. CCHeel1, I do not think you watch the Pre Season ACC when all the teams came to Charlotte. NH and RK stated that TH could really shot the ball. CB said the same thing. We definitely saw this in the Louisville game. She was the one that was killing Louisville. Her offensive game is way ahead of BT, LH, and LG when they were freshman last year. This year's freshmen are just way better. You can see it. Also, some of you guys stated that TH and TQ would not get that much playing time and I told yall that they would.

Good observations. I am somewhat intrigued by Astakhova. She arrived too late to get much preseason prep but she has good length and appears to have some scoring skills. Like NB she isn't shy on the offensive end.

UMan, I find Liza Astakhova intriguing also. She is coming along nicely. She has size is 6'2, physically strong looking(lifting weights for the first time ever this year) she can shoot inside and out; she runs the court well.

I expect her to be in the rotation next season.

This year is to acclimate and learn. I expect we will see lots of good things from her.

I agree totally. I think she is adjusting to the college game now. You can see the difference between the beginning of the season when she arrived which was late and now. The game against SMU showed that. Moving forward, I would play her some, no more than 5 minutes just to give someone a blow. She is tall on the perimeter just like LH. She can score, shoot, and rebound. She gives us more length and height on the perimeter. Go Heels!
