SMU gets blasted for violations. No post season and a loss of three scholarships for the next three seasons.

Yes, SMU got blasted quite quickly. It is a complete joke that the investigation of North Carolina is still dragging on. They should get the Death penalty but most likely will only get a slap on the wrist.

UNC knows how to play the game. I wish Rutgers had their ability to fight for their school.

SMU should have had their kids take classes at UNC and transfer the credits. You would think the NCAA owes a little slack to SMU given how hard they came down on them for football years ago vs. the current environment of punishment. Perhaps the NCAA just use SMU to average out the penalties vs. the big guys.

When the bag of money intended for a Kentucky recruit broke open at the airport a few years ago, one coach joked that the NCAA was so mad they were going to slap additional penalties on UNLV. Back when Loy Vought attended Michigan, the going signing bonus for Michigan players was 65K. Wonder what it was when the Fab 5 signed on? Signature programs get off lightly, so we should not expect the NCAA to come down too hard on UNC.
What class for credit was that at Georgia when Harrick was there that his son taught, and was attended by all the players? Exam questions included what are the Georgia school colors, and how many halves in a basketball game. And those were two of the hard ones. Seriously, the big schools make lots of money off these kids, and dump them when their eligibility is gone.

The folks at Appy State and Western Carolina can relax a bit now, knowing that UNC's penalties have been assessed to SMU instead of to one of them.

Personally I wish the NCAA had leaned on SMU to dismiss Brown and begin the sanctions next year.

The players on this years team had zero to do with this and IMO it isn't fair to punish them.

Let them play for the tourney this year and let the one's with eligibility left going forward transfer.

That to me would have been long term a much harsher penalty for the SMU program.
