In retrospect that seems like the turning point for the season.

We were on a roll and Birt was putting up big numbers.

After the injury Birt was burdened with playing the 4 and his numbers diminished substantially plus we just seemed out of sync from then forward.

I'm sure the selection committee will give us credit for that like they will give Syracuse credit for not having Jim Boeheim for a number of games, suspended for cheating. Same thing. Right? Not. I doubt they are even aware Smith didn't play in the 1st Memphis loss or that the official called bogus fouls on our bigs.

They have no clue who Smith is. But is is a fact we win or lost on Birts shooting. He needs some help out there next year.

I also think the Smith injury really impacted the team and Birt. In hindsight it blows my mind that with Smith out we stomped Temple like we did.
