The missing QB from Robbinsville would have made a huge difference last night. It would have allowed #4 to be the feature back. I thought he ran the ball exactly hard. #24 ran hard for his size also.
But Mitchell definitely controlled the line of scrimmage and #4 for Mitchell only needs a step to break off big runs.

While this years varsity would be a Robbinsville win. This group of Mountaineers could be back very competitive in a couple years. Hopefully the 2 conferences continue the jv games.

Go Mountaineers

If NC adds more classes it may change conference realignment and make it harder to keep the junior high leagues that these two conferences have going. But could always just have conferences just for JH football.

Hard to gauge anything from the 8th and ninth grade jvs I don’t know of any freshmen on Varsity here or Heritage SMC seems to move most of their freshmen to varsity can you imagine a Murphy jvs team with that varsity freshman RB on it

Jvs are irrelevant. Most small schools pull up
The best freshmen and sophomores to varsity. That said. Mitchell in two years will have the talent to compete for regional championships.

I hope so I think we have deep run potential this year

I saying Mitchell Murphy and a few more will be 2a after next yr.
Rville Andrews 1a.
Mitchell maybe but after the consolidation failed in Cherokee County, according to some I know who works at the high school, Murphy's enrollment is WAY down this year.. They were at 485 last year and the start of school year today, I heard they had 440 or maybe even less after transfers. Not sure where that 2A cut off line will be but if this number is accurate, I don't see Murphy moving to 2a with less then 450 kids. @mbdfan can you confirm this is somewhat accurate?

If it's 7a in all sports the cut off will be around 410. If the charters stay in 1a.
Oh ok, I thought you were referring if there was still 4 classifications. This would make sense then.. I also wouldn't be surprised if Murphy had only 400 students. After the consolidation fell through, so many parents pulled their students out and transferred across the state line. MBDfan said in another thread the two of Murphy's stud players in JV's transferred to Rabun Gap. I honestly wouldn't be surprised if Murphy's enrollment was below Robbinsville in the next couple of years.

Swain would be 2A but not by as much as some think. Since Con Met closed, well y'all know the rest of that story.

I haven't heard any enrollment #'s for this year, so I can't comment directly. With that said it stands to reason that some families will opt out of Cherokee County Schools after the consolidation fell through and I can't blame them. As I've said before, if there isn't at least a new Murphy High facility by the time my children get high school aged then I will be taking a similiar route.

Murphy JV got an 8th grade QB transfer today, kid should be a difference maker type of talent.

Adding him along with the 9th grade varsity RB you're talking about (Clem) and this age group should show a bit better at the varsity level.

I don’t blame you. I moved to Blairsville about 10 years ago and the two school systems could not be further apart. I can say that Union County really pours money into their education system and it shows. I still bleed black and gold but my kids education came first in the decision to move over here. There’s also several kids from Murphy that drive over here for school.
