This guy is the biggest douche in a long history of Duke douches. What a little baby.

He's going to trip someone at the next level in a game and it's going to be a big problem....let him try and trip one of the crazies in the NBA like DeMarcus Cousins, Rajon Rondo, Draymond Green or Patrick Beverly and it's going to be a brawl....you can get away with it at Duke, because he's behind the Coach K umbrella....

When he goes to the basket with a flying dunk like he did to UNLV a couple of weeks ago and someone gives him a small nudge, then he'll understand.

Here's a different video in cast that one has problems.. omg just watched it again.. he was trying to hit him in the face too!

Totally agree.. douche of douches.. the trip (at least his third he was caught doing) was bad enough.. but the temper tantrum? He makes Christian Laetner look like a choir boy.

(I bet the critics of my Richard Sherman thread on the football board have no problem with this thread).

It is troubling and upsetting that he has not yet been suspended. Not doing something is enabling someone who is going to do worse things in the future.

... And Coach K is in the refs face defending the punk. Not the first instance Coach K's true character has showed. IMHO he comes across as hypocritical and full of himself. If he really is the high character guy he sells us, then he needs to address this now. Otherwise this is just more do as I say not as I do.

PS - the ESPN half time crew of the Louisville - Kentucky game ripped Allen and Coach K

Coach K is also the guy who practically invented - or at least popularized - the el foldo fall down to draw charges. The single worst play in basketball.

There's something more wrong with Allen. It's not just the trip, but the tantrum. He really thinks he's above the rules, and god forbid someone call him on it.

This guy definitely should be suspended. I have no respect for Coach K. How could he play this guy in the second half?

There was another highlight on ESPN yesterday. Duke vs. Tenn. St. Allen drives to the hoop, and misses an easy layup. Ref calls a foul on the Tenn. St. kid that was two feet away from Allen. A Dook star can't miss an open layup. Must have been fouled. Whistle.

The Dook Cult is about as bad as State Penn's. Fans applauding when he came back into the game. Coach K is an even bigger DB than Allen. He'll end up suspending him after enough people pressure him. Then he'll say it was his idea. Wonder what Dickie V has to say?

ESPN once had a special featuring Coach K and Joe Paterno as coaches who built character. Of course, just months later the whole Sandusky thing blew up.

I couldn't find a video, but here's a promo for it:

Allen gets his trailing leg clipped by the defender. It's actually a bit of a Grayson Allen move by the Tenn St kid. You have to watch Allen's feet to see it happen. Might be the case that it was incidental on the part of the Tenn kid, but there's definitely contact.

My guess is that K comes up with a three game suspension on Allen as the situation is now endangering the high gloss on the K image -- so the kid will pay.

I agree with the "there's something wrong here" analysis. Why trip the guy? What kind of a move is that? It's not like elbowing underneath the basket where you may get away with it. It seems to me that Allen is embarrassed by getting beat to the hoop by the opponent and just cannot stand it. He's definitely out of control. You'd have to think that this sort of behavior would come up in practice as well.

Very odd.

Coach K is amazing. This is a guy who gave my family, along with countless other families, a significant donation for cancer treatments at Duke. My cousin had no affiliation with the university either. Yet you guys are ripping him and his program instead of Allen. Guy is a hall of fame coach and an even better person. So he has a dirty player in Allen? I am sure he will suspend him which is completely deserved. Allen might have something mentally wrong with him.

Coach K maybe a symbol of many good things but he has not handled this situation well. Seems dug in and daring the outside to come down on him for not taking a harder line on this kid. No defense for not giving this kid a timeout. The tantrum on the bench was as disturbing as the incident itself. Then the kid seemed to be in a semi coma talking to the press afterward. I don't doubt that he was genuinely regretting the incident but 3X?

Coach K is a product of ESPN and Dicky Vital. If Rutgers got the same treatment Dicky V and ESPN gives Coach K, we would be a top 5 program. A game isn't played without Dicky praising Coach K and telling the world how great Duke University is. If we ever got that kind of positive press for 10 straight years that Duke gets for them we would be picking our 5 Star players every year as well.

I'm sorry, but your rationale is backwards. Coach K created that program long before it became a media darling. Let's not make stuff up here.

I totally think Grayson has issues and not a fan of the flopping at Duke, but I still think Coach K is a great coach.

If I know Grayson as well as I think I do, his tantrum on the sidelines was a "Damn it, I did it again. Why can't I stop. I'm hurting the team." Not "I didn't even do anything."

What he's doing is indefensible and he knows he can't keep doing it. He's hurting himself and his team. He's too good of a player to resort to that. Hopefully he gets a few games suspension for the message to get thru.

This is the third time. I was going to see him tonight when his HS plays, but that's not happening now.

He's creating a bad image for himself. Out of maybe 1,000 minutes of playing time at Duke he's killing all of his hard work and excellent play with this tripping thing.

The comparison between Coach K and Paterno is fitting. For both of them, their program's reputation was and is more important than anything else. They would both do whatever was necessary to protect their program's reputation from outside attacks even if the attacks were justified.

Reading between the lines, it's pretty clear that Coach K's hands were tied on this one. If Duke didn't suspend him, the ACC would have, which would have looked worse for Duke.

When you win you are perceived in a different light by media, referees and much of the public...I don't question that coach K is not a good guy...I believe he is but yes , this player should see some type of suspension or disciplinary action for a few games...it seems to be happening too often... an apology would also be the right thing to the opposing player and school...

In fairness to Coach K and the kid, I think I heard he had Allen go into the Elon locker room after the game and apologize to the entire team.
