Why not a dislike button? Would it not seemingly calm some of the over-the-top rhetoric and general nastiness?
I think it leads to boring forums. From what I’ve seen over the years, it has the effect of reducing polarization (or else has no effect at all). My point being that, again from what I’ve seen and experienced, forums are generally lots more fun without dislike buttons.
