Have mixed feeling about him , did feel bad about the covid situation with him and the Olympics. Total shame that both of our National Champs have nothing to do with us anymore.

Yeah.I don't know went wrong there.Ashnault coaching for Princeton...??? What's up with that? From what I remember, he had a fiery relationship with them in college, and for intents and purposes didn't like them very much. I would of thought he would've stayed at Rutgers as a coach and eventually moved to an Associate Head Coach position.Possibly taking over the reigns when Goody decided to retire. Suriano, for me, always seemed like a hired gun for the right price. Gave all these Roman Gladiator type speeches about loyalty and honor, but was the furthest from that. Evidence of his larger than life paycheck he got from Borment as a hired gun. I hear his father Bob is a real charmer. Makes sense, the behavior.

He's an intriguing fellow. Have always pulled for him, but def right on the gas-lighting. Wish he would of stuck with RU longer. I think it would have benefited everyone on the squad, including himself (with Seb and Ash).

Disappointed that Rutgers (Goodale) has no relationship with the programs two greatest wrestlers Ashnault and Suriano.

Pretty sure that is on Ashnault. Goody had to let a longtime coach go to open the door for Ash, only for him to get mopped by Basset in pursuit to an Olympic career.

I don't really know too much about their relationship. It seemed affable. Something must have happened for him to go to Princeton. I really don't know what type of kid he is. Is he an easy going kid or is he an arrogant self centered jerk? I don't know. All I know is that he was incredible for the program. It's just very odd to me that he would not come back to our program. I mean Oklahoma State, Iowa, Nebraska, all graduates usuallygo to other schools...but Princeton??? Maybe they offered him huge money who knows. Traditionally , I don't think the ivy league wrestling coaches get paid that much as compared to the big ten. Would love to see him come back. I'll be honest.I really like the future with mikey labriola. I hope we keep him because I can see him being a great associate head coach or possibly head coach someday. Guy has the passion and fire. That's for sure. Would love to see him stay here and eventually take over for Goody as head coach, when he retires.

Anthony Ashnault is a wonderful young man. We made him an assistant coach but he left on his own to try to train full time to make the Olympics. When that did not materialize he decided to eventually get back into Coaching. We had no opening so he took the Princeton job when offered. The staff and he get along well.

Wng that's great.Glad you cleared that up.I really like the current staff.Pollard never gets the props he rightfully deserves. He is a rock solid guy who in my opinion is heart soul of the coaching staff.Always, always, always do you see him cheering hard for our wrestlers and running off with them after matches to see how they are doing. In a perfect world, Mikey Labriola with a little more maturity and coaching knowledge will become a pipeline for us in the Pennsylvania recruiting process. The kid seems like a rock solid find for us. We need to do everything in our power to keep him.Wng, whatever happened to Leo? Why did he leave? Leo was awesome. Anyway, I'm hoping there is room for Ash to come back and coach.

I read the Suriano article. He was an incredibly focused person who I liked very much when he was st RU. I can see the person I knew searching for his calling in life and I hope he finds that calling. I feel terrible that he never got the chance to be in the Olympics due to Covid. I had many lunches with his dad Bob who I admire as a successful self made businessman. Sure he was outspoken but he always had the welfare of his son in the forefront of his actions.
