Should we root for SHU now

Needless to say, they are really in a hole with Myles out with the concussion. They certainly didn't seem to have much to play with in the second half.
But, although I would think they are out of the top 25 now, we want this win to carry as much juice as it can to help us at the end of the season if we are looking at some post season.

I for one don’t care if Seton Hall winning helps us out... I don’t like when they win. You ever see an Ohio State fan root for Michigan?

At this point, I'd just like them to win enough to remain a Quad 2 win. I doubt they'll end up a Quad 1 win regardless.

They're going to do what they do. With Myles and Mamu out, it will be a steep uphill battle to beat Maryland. And with a Maryland loss, their OOC results are not stellar. They would have to make a lot of noise in the BE to be quad 1 and make a difference in Rutgers' postseason resume.

On the other hand, for Rutgers to get postseason consideration, we will have to get into the top half of the Big Ten, which means we will have other quad 1 wins.

Yeah, just stay above 75th at this point and keep it to Quad 2. My guess is with Mamu out long term and Powell out short term, that they finish in the 40-50th range.

BE has some strong teams. We just have to hope The Hall can do well enough to make the win meaningful. Are there 8 wins remaining on the sked so we can finish above .500? Think maybe, if we don't have any more St Bonnie games. Could we squeeze out ten more wins, and have a shot at post season? There's the question. We are still a team getting used to each other, starting 3 sophs and a transfer. Two of those sophs are really showing out.

if RU fans want RU to go to post season, yes you root for SHU to win the Big East, this is a no brainer..we want them to do so well they make this a quad 1 game

Not sure that's gonna happen regardless. They'd need to dominate the BE this year in order to stay above 30 in NET, I'd think - and I doubt that's going to happen without Mamu. At this point I'm just hoping they don't fall below 75th.

I dislike SHU but I care MORE about RU. What helps us make the postseason outweighs the joy of seeing them lose. Thus, I will be rooting for them to win.

I’d say yes and also for the Bonnies to become gang busters to lessen that loss...and for sPitt to do well, too...

Will SHU fans be rooting for us so it's seen as a good loss in March?

I don't think I will root for them beyond (1) full health for their guys (it's only a game after all, I don't want to see guys injured) and (2) doing well enough to be a Q1 win for us. I want us to be the best program in the state consistently to help with recruiting. I hope that starts this year, and next year without Powell (assuming he declares) we continue the trend.

Winning some B1G road games would have more positive impact than how Seton Hall performs for the rest of the season.

There are so many high profile/ quality opponents in the Big Ten that we play every year multiple times, that are better than Seton Hall that we will never need to rely on a win over Seton Hall to elevate our own profile. If we are good enough, we have the opportunity for high profile wins over several opponents that will enhance our resume more than anything a win over Seton Hall will do. Honestly... with the slow death of print media and the fact that I don't get the Star Ledger anymore....I barely ever hear anything about Seton Hall. I don't watch them on TV... I barely hear anything on the radio or TV local news about them and I never make a point to go to their articles on NJ.com.. They have become so much less relevant as far as I am concerned. When I would get the paper...you couldn't avoid seeing some things about them as you flip through pages... but now, if I don't make the effort, I see and hear very little about them

It’s too bad Rutgers can’t have a real rival like most state schools...you know another school that plays the sport that matters most (football)

All of the teams that we traditionally played decided not to pursue Div-IA football. The closest thing that could potentially develop into a rivalry would be Penn State, but we'd have to be a ton better than we have been over a long period of time for that to happen. Right now we're 2-27 against them (and 0-5 since joining the conference)... that's even worse than our 4-33-2 record against WVU.

There's not enough of a NJ/MD rivalry to get something going there, we don't play Syracuse anymore to get a NJ/NY thing going, and UConn might not even be playing FBS football in a few more years.

I’ll root for St bonnies and Pitt. No way I can root for SHU. We need to put it on ourselves and hold serve at home and steal 2 or 3 on the road

I believe the Bonnies are decent and are already doing better. Last year they lost in the A-10 Championship game and most of their team is back. I think they will be in the Top 100 very soon.
