This win at least cracks the door open. It’s hard not to think that with even one legitimate three-point threat, the entire offense would look different—better spacing, cleaner driving lanes, fewer possessions that feel like a grind.

Digging around and looking for signs of hope:

I wasn't able to find Phoenix Gill's high school stats. Anyone know if he can shoot? Bio sounds like he scored a lot.
Shot looks pretty good. Has done well when he's gone in.

Blake Smith shot 33% the year he played a bunch. I recalled him looking pretty good shooting and hitting some 3s from the corner.
33% makes him an absolute world beater on this team. He can defend really well, can't shoot worse than what we've got.

The Bus is undefeated.
Currently the greatest shooter in NCAA history, shot minimums aside. :)
He has shot 100% from the field and 100% from the line for his career.
His shot mechanics are no joke though, he cooks from what I've seen.

Any hope for Cade shooting?

The issue isn’t who can shoot the 3. Everyone on this team hits them during practice. Watch the instagram videos and they players don’t miss. 😆

The question is can anyone hit them during the flow of the game, guarded with a defender in their face. Many of our shooters simply pass up shots because a defender is in the area. This last game was the first where i saw players really moving to get open while ballhandlers made moves to collapse the D to dish to an open shooter behind the line. West had a beautiful play where he drove baseline and kicked it back out to the top of the key for a Green (?) wide open shot. Can’t remember if Green made the shot or not, but it was a beautifully designed and executed play. Hopefully with more playing time, the younger players will develop some confidence.

Honestly, this is probably the area i question our coaching and lineups the most. If you look at all the players besides martinelli, KJ has demonstrated the most ability to score from outside, set plays and/or creating his own shot - this year and last. Yet he has been absent from the lineup since early november. IDK but something is up.

We also need more than just another player to make 3s. If you look at all the top offenses in the conference, they have 3 or more scoring threats. TBH, its a miracle we have even been in games this season given only Martinelli is a consistent scoring threat - combined with spotty D and terrible rebounding. If we had Page in for a consistent 10-15 and one of the outside shooters could be reliably counted on to get hot each game, we’d be singing the praises of this team and looking at post-season possibilities.

As it stands, we can only wonder about the lineups, the inconsistent play, the missing shooting, the lack of team D chemistry and who put the anti-rebounding potion in the gatorade…. 🤦‍♂️

It’s pretty obvious KJ isn’t going to play at all this year unless there is no one left on the bench or extreme garbage time. A poster alledged that he talked to his family and he is portal bound. Not sure if that is true or how it got to that point, but it sure feels like there is something internal happening here of which none of us will ever know the truth. I am sure he will do well wherever he goes and KJ will become the Brendan Sullivan of basketball for some posters.

Made shot. West and Reid have had quite a few drives where the defense collapses on them and they make a nice kick out and then the shot clanks off the iron. If the shots went in you’d remember more of the shots. They aren’t always 3’s but they’re open shots most of the time. The offensive potential is there for this team.

Need to find more ways to get Max “the microwave” Green open and confident with his shot, he and West are the best shooters.

I believe “Nuke” Green is the preferred nomenclature. Also realizing that the announcers have not been referring to him as such, probably leading to his cold streak.
