He might just turn out to be right. I mean... yeah, Wisconsin and Iowa are supposedly the big dogs of the West but they aren't anything special really. We have damn near beaten both of them several times but always found a way to shoot ourselves in the foot. So maybe this is our year!

All that said, I think people are putting too stock in the new coaches and the big time transfer guys we got. Those are good things, but we have been a train wreck now for seven years. I would not bet on us.

Strange as this may sound Nebraska can win any game on their schedule, not saying this will happen but it could. I know everyone like's to say Michigan will beat Nebraska this year but is it 100% guaranteed they will. I know most everyone is writing off Nebraska against Purdue but will Purdue beat Nebraska, are they a lock? Now is it a 100% guaranty Nebraska will beat Northwestern this Saturday, I doubt it. Like it or not there are no guarantee's of victory in the BIG week to week, the teams in the BIG are very unpredictable game to game. Let the games begin! GBR!

I've always said Kirk Herbstreit is the most prescient college football prognosticator of all time.

Yeah because there really isn't much difference between Lubick/Whipple or Held/Applewhite or Lubick/Joseph or Whipple/Verduzco or the mess that was Austin and his techniques. : (

I have been a pretty hardcore fan my whole 58 years on this earth. Hell, I am the guy who recorded/uploaded 170 plus Husker games to my Youtube channel. Never in my life have I been so checked out at the start of the season. I won't be surprised if they lose tomorrow but it is a must win game.

He's probably taking in to account the large and talented group of transfers and jucos that are now part of the team (especially Casey Thompson).

since its inception, only 1 time has a school achieve back-to-back B1G west representation in the B1G title game (I have a really hard time saying the phrase "winning the west" bc all the teams just get killed in their last 2 games (only ones that really matter))

our division is like the NFC East

I bet if they win tomorrow, you'll be checked in again.

“And then I think, look at this, I got Nebraska,” Herbstreit continued. “Remember they were 3–9 last year, all nine losses within one possession.
They found ways to lose games. I think Scott Frost can have a great year with Casey Thompson at quarterback.”

If Nebraska is going to have a breakout year, they will have to address most or all of the issues everyone has talked about: OL, special teams, turnovers, more disruptive defense come to mind.
In addition, Thompson will hopefully provide a legitimate downfield threat throwing the ball.
I think when facing AM, teams would play the run until obvious passing downs, and even then play the QB draw. He would burn them once and a while, but not often enough.
I found some absurd stat that if you held NU to under 300 yards rushing and scored over 21 points, you had a 90+% chance of winning with AM at QB.
AM/Frost were never going to win a shootout throwing the ball.
Maybe that's an indictment on the receivers, but the film indicates otherwise.
If CT provides an over the top threat, safties have to back off and you can establish a running game.
I think with Herby you have to read between the lines; he doesn't call out players, but I think he's insinuating the above from his comments. Here's hoping....

When the bar has been lowered to 3-4 wins a season...
When an opener against NW in Ireland results in this level of fan euphoria you know the bar is too low. If we lose this game **** is gonna go sideways hard. I don’t think we will, but…..

Yeah, Kirk is setting this whole thing up. If we were to lose tomorrow somehow, he‘ll be on the air proclaiming that NEB is toast and Frost will be getting his pink slip sooner rather than later.

As he should. We lose tomorrow and Alberts should fire Scott before he gets on the plane.

Absolutely agreed. Also, I don't think even Alabama's fanbase could pull up that many fans for a game like this.

If, in fact, the Adrian factor was the reason for us always finding ways to lose, I feel pretty good about this season. We will know very quickly how much weight Frost’s coaching had in those losses by how this team performs this year. Adrian is a great athlete but made too many bonehead plays that cost us big time. Yes, Whipple doesn’t hurt either…. GBR.
