I am not sure when the season starts, but we may as well start thinking in that direction. However, I personally don't know enough to have too much of an opinion.
The one thing we can probably be sure about is that Wilson will be in the mix as they always are. It will be quite an accomplishment if they capture the district in all three major sports this school year but I would not rule it out.
If I had to name a top four to give them competition, it would probably be Alleghany, Fort Defiance, Riverheads, and Stuarts Draft, in alphabetical order. I am including Alleghany because they have shown us already that the size of their enrollment will generally mean a quality team........although that was certainly not the case in girls basketball this year. As for the other three, they have all been strong the past few years, so no reason to expect a drop off.
That would then seem to leave a bottom four of Buffalo Gap, Rockbridge, Staunton and Waynesboro. But maybe baseball will turn out to be Rockbridge's sport this year and also I remember Waynesboro improving toward the end of last season. So they might be ready to make a move up the ladder.
So those are my very general thoughts. Feel free to chime in with any other predictions or insight. I personally won't pay too much attention to baseball until March Madness is over.
