Understandably the weather has kept things from getting off to a very fast start but here are a few details about what has happened so far.
Riverheads lost a one-run decision at Stuarts Draft back before the recent snowfall, but the Gladiators evened their record with an 11-1 shellacking of Stonewall yesterday. Stuarts Draft meanwhile traveled to Page one day and took a tight 1-0 win, but then lost at home to East Rock. I think I also read that somebody (Page maybe?) shut out Buffalo Gap. Don't recall seeing anything at all yet about either Wilson, Lee, or Luray, but I think RHS travels to Wilson this Thursday.
I don't think anything much can be gleaned from so few results with the possible exception that East Rock might be a team to keep a watch on. If I remember, last year was a crazy free-for-all in which anybody could beat anybody on a given day, and when all was said and done, a team that had finished something like 6th or 7th in the district (Stonewall) went all the way to the state championship game.
These are all just tidbits I have seen in one paper or another, so correct me if I have anything wrong. Haven't had time to check out the Shenandoah website in any detail. Last time I looked, they had not yet started to cover the spring sports, which is of course understandable since it is early. I personally always wait out March Madness and hold off on baseball until the weather warms up. Old age and all that jazz you know!
