I wanted to single this kid out because of the warrior he is and effort he gives.

He’s bigger than you think when you see him up close, and plays a very physical game with limited ability.

Let’s face it, with the progress of Johnson and the other Shaq, Doorson is going to get less minutes the rest of the way.

I just thought he was worthy of some individual attention for his commitment, effort and the physicality he brings when he’s in there.

Doorson has been the epitome of a guy on a program who for 5 years has been the perfect example of what Rutgers is doing. He came in here much bigger, out of shape & injury prone, much like our program. He has reinvented himself put in countless hours of work to lose weight, get better & develop leadership which is the next step in our program that we are building.

As for playing time, it will always matter on game flow & opponent. He is our best post defender from the 5 at this point so when we play OSU again I can see him getting good minutes against Wessin. Games like Nebraska where the 4 & 5 are more athletic he may get less.

There are games (opponents) where Shaq D is very important and games were he isn't. Looking at all our B1G opponents this might be the single game where Shaq D matches up the worst.

Looked like he tweaked his ankle, I think we’ll see him a bit limited tomorrow. Hopefully it’s minor and he can be close to 100% down the stretch.
Yeah, he immediately signaled to the bench to come out. Once he sat, he took off his sneaker. I didn't know what to make of it. I thought maybe it was a problem with his sneaker, or perhaps an ankle brace that came undone?? Didn't he return to the game after that play? I honestly don't remember.

Really happy for Shaq After all the years of injuries he’s finally getting some time and making the best of it.

Good job, Shaq!

He did not return. But at the same time he was walking around, didn’t go to the locker room etc, so I’m thinking mild ankle sprain.

And best of all he has the discipline to play within himself and not hurt the team trying to do things beyond his abilities. He deserves a lot of credit.

Considering the matchup vs Penn State and his injury history it might be best to give him the game off and rest him

That block got me so pumped. Love to see hustle plays from big men like that

He can be a real force on D (immovable when opponent bigs try to back him down), gets boards, blocks shots, decent at the FT line at times, wins opening taps I thought he would lose, and comes across as a good humble kid. Proud to have him as a loyal son and have no use for his detractors. Go Shaq!

He’s bigger than you think when you see him up close . . . .

That must be something because I already think he’s very big.

I agree that he’s a hard worker and good teammate, and he gets the most out of his ability.

Rutgers basketball fans, in general, give special love to seniors. Well deserved for the commitment to show over 4-5 years.

Looking back, it’s been a while since we last had a senior big that joined the program as a freshman and stayed with us through their senior year. I think Jack was the last and Austin Johnson before that. Other recent bigs that joined us as freshmen transfered out - Etou, Randall, Biruta, Echinique, Diallo, Foreman

I knew he was a big kid, but from 3 feet away I truly had no idea how thick his upper body was.
Issa from 3 feet away is really thin.
