I got a weekend at Shangri-La when I bought a new car, went about a month ago. Had been a long time since I had been there. Place was absolutely beautiful, excellent restaurants. Will absolutely return.

I haven't been to Shangri-La since it was a clump of tree filled with wildlife and called Monkey Island!!!

Well if you're a football season ticket holder they'll give you a free room and round of golf until the end of the year. Promo code was in the season ticket package.

Hahahaha, luckily she is not a poster here. If this page was structured anything like instagram or facebook she might be able to figure it out.

We just booked for New years eve! Thank you for the heads up. Were very excited to check this resort out.

I remember my family having a show in the 90s up there... I was 14 at the time, we had that whole dang place to ourselves during the week. We went bowling, played on golf cars, free driving range... I had a blast and that was before the overhaul

I am so pleased to hear that it has been redone. We went there quite a bit in the 80’s a family and I always winced when I heard people discuss its decline. I loved going there for long trips and Woolaroc for day trips.

It’s been tough for them to compete. But there are so many other places to go to get away now that didn’t exist then. In 1980’s Tulsa you didn’t send you kids to Cabo for spring break. And family vacations were close by.

Any other places either weren’t accessible quickly, or it just wasn’t socially acceptable to drop a bunch of money on a four day family weekend or two weeks in some far flung place. Shangri La filled that void. Later people could fly easy and cheap and spending money on gaudy vacations to post on Instagram became a thing. Shangri La started to die when Southwest Airlines got big. Instagram nearly killed it. Glad it is back. I hope the casinos don’t kill it again.

I hope the casinos don’t kill it again.

I think the opposite may be true this time. There’s a new casino just up the road in Grove which seems to attract guests to the area.

On Saturday, we stayed out until midnight when the pool closed. At that time, there were only 5 vehicles in the parking lot.

The next morning, there were about 50 cars in the lot. My guess is that most of those were at the casino late.

I just booked a room there for NY Eve as well. Am glad you mentioned NY Eve, because they told me they would not honor that coupon on a holiday. I told them you had booked it on NY Eve, so she talked to the hotel manager, got it ok'd and booked me for NY Eve. I got an upcharge of $50 and booked the King Studio w/ balcony. They said the hotel restaurant won't be open on the 31st but they would give us free rides to Monkey Island and that Road Hogs and Shabang restaurants served dinner there. Also mentioned that there would be a complimentary midnight breakfast bar with Champagne at the resort. Maybe I'll see you at the Midnight Breakfast? We'll be dining at Shabang and going over to Big Shots afterward.

Wow that sounds cool. We'll have a 1 year old with us so we will be pretty boring that night, but send me an email [email protected] and I'll see what we have going on that night, maybe enjoy a beer or two.

We found out last weekend that there is no beer available onsite when the restaurant is closed.

We bought some cans in town (not Natty) and enjoyed them around one of the gas fire pits at the pool. We were told that outside booze was ok as long as it’s not in glass.

You kids have fun and be sure to thank them for supporting Tulsa Football.

Thanks for mentioning that. All the stuff my girl and I drink are in bottles. Will have to find a substitute in cans.

“Will trade suggestions on what beer to purchase for pics of girlfriend.” — barrister
No coded message threat would convince me to give masturbatory material of my girlfriend to Barrister. Let the world think I support the neo Nazis or some such thing. Besides, she's probably not plump enough to get Barrister off. Can figure out beer without your barristerial legal assistance.

Dropped you an email a day or two ago, in case you aren't checking that account terribly often through the holidays.

We had a great time. Ate dinner on site. Met and enjoyed a beer with @Gmoney4WW at the fire pit. Wife definitely wants to go back when its warmer and will absolutely be bringing the clubs with us next time.

Also made sure to thank the management for supporting TU Football. They have a great resort there.
