Going to DePaul with Dave Leitao.

Jon Rothstein @JonRothstein

La Lumiere's Shane Heirman is expected to join Dave Leitao's staff at DePaul as an assistant coach, per multiple sources.
I forget, what are the regs on taking high school players with you for a HS coach who joins a college staff? Should remember this to the recent cause with Shea, but I've forgotten the exact details?

Should we happen to lose an assistant in the next couple of 3 years, would be a nice replacement for Haith's staff. Was wondering how long it might be before somebody hired him onto a college staff. Good for him, and good for Leitao.

Found it, NCAA bylaw 11.4.3 Pretty much remembered the two years after, but was kinda hazy on the details before. So it won't affect our recruiting of his players for the next two years.

So then we can hire him in a couple of years and pick up his freshman and sophomore stars. :D

The 2 years only refers to people hired into non-coaching roles which is why we would have been precluded from recruiting any of Shea's players like Parker. If Shane is being hired into one of the on-court assistant coaches, DePaul could swoop in and take any of those kids.

The article I read used support staff when referring to the two years after. It mentioned non coaching vs coaching in relation to the two years before. I thought they were referring to a difference and they meant support staff to refer to everyone, including assistants. You are correct, my mistake.
