Shakena Richardson: Imagining a Dream Interview
It would take a talented, objective sports reporter: a Dunleavy more than a Politi.
Ms. Richardson would probably be reluctant to be terribly candid; but a talented reporter, phrasing his or her questions just right, could help us learn a lot.
Background
Ms. Richardson has played for Rutgers and for Seton Hall. On paper, Rutgers current roster of players has substantially better credentials than Seton Hall’s roster.
But then I was in Walsh Gym on November 19, 2015. In CVS’s own words, our team was “like a deer in headlights.” They were ready for the season; despite all our seniors, we were not.
Uh, oh, I thought after that game.
But later, watching the RU team win the Jam in St. Thomas, playing well against teams like Green Bay, I, for one, was filled with renewed hope for the season.
But in the end…
Seton Hall is dancing; and we are not.
So, the question is…
From her perspective, just what is happening in Bozzella’s team preparation, player development, game planning, and game coaching that is just not happening in the same way at RU?
I’ve seen Ms. Richardson interviewed a couple of times. She’s a smart young woman. If only, if only, a great journalist could get her to share candidly.
