Dane was 16-30 for 321 last night. Key stat for me was no INTs and the fact that he really never put the ball in trouble. Defense was much better last night than it was in week 1. Right now there is light, last year after game 2 we were calling for a new coach and the team had already quit

I'm encouraged. I thought a 2-0 start and a 3-2 start (ULM W) was the key to a 5-7 or 6-6 season, one home upset from a bowl game . That is light years away from last year.

Back in 2013. In 2014, it seemed pretty unanimous on here other than the Union people and Blankenships. I guess that Hoover article was last year, but he's firmly on the bandwagon now. I don't think anyone at the university thinks we did anything other than the right thing.

I've been greatly impressed with Dane's ability to get the ball out in front of the receivers. I'm glad to see our wideouts no longer need to slow down or stop to catch passes.

I'm OK with 50% completion. So long as the misses are for a reason (throw away, long balls, reciever drops) and not just God aweful passes. Also, so long as ints are 50% of TDs.

Sorry to see our defense is so sad. Given the completion we've played, it goes bad in a hurry against tougher competition.

Great win for TU! I was especially impressed with our defensive adjustments. After that first Lobo TD drive, I was picturing a blowout loss for us. We adjusted & covered the pitchman on the very next drive. That was impressive!

We may get beat by better athletes, but I feel confident our defensive coaches know what they are doing.

Just in case anyone has forgotten.... it was ole Barrister saying that blankenship needed to go a couple of years ago and that Dane would be adequate as our QB. It gets kinda old being right all the time.

One more: Dane Evans leads nation in"Yards Per Completion" @ 20.1. The major improvement we saw in the spring game continues when the lights come on. Hey Hooter, how come Navy isn't on your list of teams with poor pass D considering their vaunted running attack & practicing against the pass? The Middies can run it on anyone but how can they deal w/ Evans & Co.? TU Football: 1st,last,always!

For the sake of argument, I'm not even sure what there is to be smug about if you're trying to brag about 2013. A NC this year probably wouldn't change anyone's mind retroactively that at the time Coach B deserved one more year. So you won't be getting any pats on the back because it doesn't change the situation at that time.

Further, I'm not sure what kind of quality coaching pool we'd have had to choose from after axing one of our own after a single down year. You think Montgomery and Meacham would have entertained talks under those circumstances looking toward a shot at a title run at their current programs? So yay we cut Coach B loose and wind up with a weak bunch of options to replace him and spend another few seasons in the doldrums?

Lastly, we've moved on and Coach B has moved on. We're in a clearly better spot right now. It's just bad form to continue ripping on the man. Smugface not a good look.
