Screaming at the Ref's

This year, there's a guy in section 104, near the back, who SCREAMS insults endlessly at the ref's all game long, every game.

There's got to be no percentage in doing that.

(And I for one, find it embarrassing when I bring friends or family to the games.)

And, it's his/her right to do that, as long as no profanity is used.

if it was actually all game long I'd believe you. Since I know for a fact it's not true, idk what to tell ya. He also happens to be the only fan that ever seems to make noise on defense the entire game. People assume they shouldn't be loud on defense because we have a Pep band

It's only when the ref makes a call he doesn't like and it is very annoying because he goes on and on. Get over it already-you have made your point! . I get very tempted to talk to an usher about speaking to him or else I could bring masking tape to the game! (just joking) I sit back in 103 and he is pretty obnoxious. I hate to tell him this but he can get ejected for that type of screaming-I know, I almost got bounced out at the Big10 tournament two years ago for screaming at a ref. The only reason I didn't was because I kept moving around and security couldn't find me! FYI, there are other people who yell defense, myself and Bob Manfre included. I am guilty of yelling at the ref, too but enough is enough.

It's not the screaming about a particular call that bothers me. I do that too.

I guess, it's the way he personalizes it: "you stink, ref;" "you're terrible at your job, ref;" etc.

I just think that there's no percentage in pissing off a ref'. I don't want anything to detract from our best chance to win.

that's a good point. While I don't think it has, i can see why we wouldn't want it negatively affecting the team.

I agree. He just goes on and on berating the refs. I yell at bad calls but get it out and move on and enjoy our team playing.

Save it for times when the refs reallllly screw us. Not necessary every time, takes away from when it’s truly warranted

I’m pretty sure I know who you’re talking about. He sat two rows behind us in 114 for many years and this year he seems to be moving around. Have seen him in 103, 104, 113, and behind us again. If he was just rooting for the team I could tolerate it, but most of his vitriol is loudly directed at the refs and CVS. I don’t understand why some people feel the need to belittle others. I’ve yelled at bad calls as have most of us at one time or another, but some of his comments have focused on physical attributes of refs which I find reprehensible. We’ve glared at him on many an occasion and have told him to cool it so maybe that’s part of the reason for him taking his act elsewhere. To top it off, there always seem to be a few fans who laugh at his antics.

think you're confusing him with someone else. Hes never sat in sections 114 or 103 ever, and he's never yelled at CVS ever, or insulting referees physical attributes. I believe some questions if glasses were needed has occurred but I don't think that's insulting if they're missing calls

I think you are confusing him with someone else because he berates the refs. He may not have sat in 103 but he has sat in the next section over. Did anyone notice how quiet it was last night? It was very refreshing not to listen to him. What a game!

We have a screamer in 113, but I mostly just ignore him. It's annoying, but whatever.
