Anyone inflicting further pain on themselves after that baseball game/season and watching the SC House tonight? Painful to say the least. Childish tactics all around.

Republicans obviously have the votes in the House. Rule changes tonight to limit time speaking on the bill/amendments and limit amendments to one per member. Democrats have basically pushed the filibuster to the reading clerk by requesting the bill be read in entirety. It is very long and detailed.

They are now in a pissing match over who is in their seats and if they can go to the bathroom or not. Chamber has been locked.

Now they are complaining about members eating in the chamber. Very petty challenges to this point....on both sides.

They are 40 pages into a 110 page bill.

I don't agree whatsoever with the speed and urgency with how they are doing this. That said, I don't really disagree with the overall effort. I've been involved with these efforts, though it has been many years ago. These things usually take a full 2 year session to get done. Now, that is way too much time, but to do it in a matter of a couple weeks is ludicrous. Then, it'll cost all of us millions of dollars more than if it were left alone this year and visited in the future. It will take a monumental effort and cost way more than it should to pull it off now in the middle of the election.

I do think this will give at least 2 districts a purple shade if they aren't changed again after this election. The right democrat could win and this could backfire on republicans. It'll likely not happen this year, but it could happen in the future.

Senate might just kill this, thankfully. Most of the heavy hitters on the R side voted against cloture today, and I take that to mean they are against this. Massey, Rankin (former D), Bennett, Davis, and Campsen. Massey, Rankin, Davis and Campsen have pretty much planted their flag already.

The speed that this is being attempted is just dumb. DUMB. Senator Johnson's proposed amendment was just a little political grandstanding. It was terrible and he rightly got torn apart by Senator Jackson. No cloture, means not only will military and other mail in votes be voided, but early, in person, voting starts Tuesday. Those votes won't count either if a change is either. Changing this late in the game will be a mess and if the party reps don't win, it'll be a controversy.

Again, I'm not completely against the effort/intent as it makes several districts more competitive, but to do it with such urgency is absolutely insane.
