Agree…give the kid a chance at least. It can’t be worse than what we have been throwing out there at the corner spots.

I'm not saying it will be, but it absolutely could be worse. In 12 plate appearances he's had 5K's, 1 BB, and 1 base hit. He has an OBP of .167, so he's struggled to have productive ab's. For better or for worse, guys who haven't separated themselves from their competition at their position are basically in try out mode every time they are put in the lineup. It's up to each player to maximize those limited opportunities. That's a hard and stressful way to play, but that's what it amounts to. Unfortunately for Sawyer his wrist injury last year set him back dramatically.

Also our corner outfielders were the only people getting on base for most of Sunday so let’s not act like they aren’t doing anything out there

Yes a lot of good players but we don't have any pop . Sawyer has pop and if he got an extended opportunity I wonder if he could settle in. I hope he sticks around and maybe he can blow up
Soon.
THis is right on the money. Watched him at Wesleyan carry a state championship on his back. Kid can flat out hit.

He had a great offseason at the cape, but I agree, it’s hard when you get so few opportunities, you feel you have to press to produce or lose the opportunity. Hopefully he gets a real chance soon.
