6-10 Michael Steadman, who was at Montana and San Jose State, perhaps with Agee makes his debut today for UMass against a good Lowell team. I have seen UMass in person. Their win over PSU was an outlier in my opinion. This kid might change the dynamic. They were weak inside, with only the 5th year from PSU as a true force. It is a winnable game.

Noah Fernandes makes UMass go.....he is the primary focus for whatever guards play for RU...I would assume Geo doesn't play and Fermandes handles the playmaking.....Mulcahy cannot guard Fernandes and if he does, he'll be in foul trouble.

Trent Buttrick, the PSU grad transfer who averaged under 3PPG for his 4 year career and was asked to bulk up as a undersized 5, has now been put back into better shape.....he's slimmed down and looks much more mobile and fluid.....Buttrick would probably not be an ideal back up big man in the B1G, but is the classic case of a player, at the end of his college career, figuring it out. Cliff will need to draw some fouls against Buttrick, who probably will not be able to guard Cliff, RHJ or Hyatt if he has to......Buttrick is off to a fast start, averaging over 15PPG.....

Winning by six would hardly have inspired confidence
Not arguing that they have played 5 games of uninspired basketball all around. They have looked like one of the worst P6 teams this year, but there is enough talent on the roster that this shouldn't have happened but can't change what already is. The guys just need to build some confidence, development, and chemistry to jump start the season. It can be done.

UMASS takes more than 50% of FG attempts beyond the arc. They putrid defensively. They are a bad rebounding team. They haven’t turned the ball over.

Every player in their rotation takes 3s.

Rutgers loses to a win less Lafayette team at home scoring a abysmal 51 points.Rutgers will probably be playing without Baker on a team without shooters. UMASS is no worse than the five previous opponents and they are playing home. There is no way Rutgers should be favored in this game.

Unless we come out playing totally different than the first 5 games, we are getting a drubbing by UMass. I pray for the best, but I expect more of the same

exactly....we have played the same game basically for 5 games now, just the opponents jerseys have changed, it does not matter if the team is horrid low major or a bad power 6 or high mid major. We will play the same game until our attitude changes.

More realistically if we can go 10-26 (38%) we beat them soundly. Just think if we had made 7-26 against Lafayette (27%), we beat them by nearly 10 points.
Our ongoing problem with shooting is that we don’t do it very well. Once in a while we shoot well (for us), which means 40%. But we haven’t been a good shooting team since the first seven games of last season. Hopefully we somehow get back to decent shooting. Not great, just decent.
