Sanders announced via Twitter that he will put his name in the Draft, but will not hire an agent (leaving him the possibility to come back to school).

I think Corey knows where he is projected right now (late 2nd or Undrafted), but with the new rules it allows him to go through the draft processes. I doubt he hires an agent.

Everyone and his mother is declaring for the draft- it means squat with the way the rules are now. He'll be on a college basketball team next season. Hope to hell it's this one.

Not a big deal unless he hires an agent. The entire Kentucky team has done this

Sanders will be Pikiells biggest headache or biggest achievement. If he can somehow get Sanders to learn how to work and be a leader that will be impressive.

I'm sure he knows where he stands but is just getting his name out there. His boy Dwayne Bacon, who was projected by nbadraft.net to 19th in the 1st round, did the same thing but just removed his name from consideration and announced that he's going back to school.

It is crazy how many kids announce for the NBA Draft these days. I would be shocked if Corey was ever drafted this year. I don't think he is anywhere near ready yet.

I'm not totally sure. Just based off quick research it looks like they can do this multiple times, "proposal also would allow underclassmen to declare multiple times for the draft during their career. They could also go for one NBA team workout in addition to the NBA-sponsored combine in a given year.(ESPN)"

I think declaring and not hiring an agent so you're able to go back to college ball is just a way to get NBA feedback letting him know what areas the NBA scouts think needs work in order to be picked in first round.
It's a sound move for someone thinking they might just go after their next season.

No. He can do this every year if he wants.
The council also voted that players will be allowed to enter or remove their names from the NBA draft multiple times without jeopardizing their eligibility and also will be allowed to participate in the NBA draft combine and one NBA team tryout per year.

It's called testing the waters. He's going to be evaluated and provided with feedback on what NBA teams feel he needs to work on to become an NBA PG.

That said, his tweet reads as though he has his hopes set on not coming back.

Difference is Whitehead right now is a much better player and NBA prospect (pains me to say that). And BTW Whitehead declaring didn't do Corey any favors!

I think this is the wrong guy, at the wrong place, at the wrong time,
for RU. It's always going to be one thing or another with him.
Maybe this is why he was still around for Rutgers to pick him
up, maybe others saw what Jordan did not.

I really don't follow the NBA so I have no idea about the draft procedure.
My concern is when is the draft held and how much of our time is wasted
while Sanders decides to continue with this quest. Will we lose out on a
replacement recruit?

I'm shocked that no one picked up that he said "Come back to College". Then mentions Rutgers in the next sentence. Certainly seems to imply that he was saying he'll come back to A college, and then thanks Rutgers for everything in the past.

Then again, with how terribly written most of these statements are, it's probably foolish to read for subtext...

Bottom line...I think its 80-20 he pulls himself for the draft

Now...the question is does he play internationally or return to RU?

That, my guess is a 50-50 proposition

And....You have to think that next year is likely his last year here....

Let's assume that Sanders doesn't get drafted in the first round. The real question is simple, can Sanders shine in the NBA summer league.

I would argue that it would be easier for Sanders to play well in the NBA summer league than next year at Rutgers. No more Teachers, No more books, lol.

Hate to say it, but I think Sanders is making the correct call here. Good Luck in the NBA, Corey. Really enjoyed watching you play!!!

Do you remember the constant rumors Douby was transferring after EACH season? I'm still glad he didn't transfer.

If he comes back to school it's Rutgers. He will not sit out a year.
