A question was raised about the teams RU played out-of-conference. I reviewed their records and thought I would share a quick summary of their OOC records:
Chattanooga - 6-8 - but 6 of their losses were to very good teams, including Connecticut. Also lost to Maine and FGCU. None of their wins are notable.
Elon - 8-4 - all their losses were to good teams, no notable victories. Won their first conference game.
Princeton - 6-7 - beat Seton Hall, notably. Lost to Rider & Deleware. Nothing to see there.
Bryant - 5-6 - their schedule was appallingly bad. I can't pick a best win.
Bucknell - 8-3 - likewise. Beat Drexel, St. Bonnies, Akron, Binghamton . . . Meh.
James Madison - 7-4 - losses were all respectable (Tennessee, Florida State, Iowa, St. John's). Best win (and only other P5 before RU) was Wake Forest.
St. John's - 8-3 - solid, not spectacular. Only bad loss was Duquesne, best wins UVA and JMU.
Houston - 7-6 - another weak schedule. Best "loss" was Texas Tech.
Seton Hall - 7-4 - a bit inconsistent, but losses to UT Arlington, Princeton, Minnesota and RU - with a best win of maybe Wake - so so. Split their Big East openers, beating St. John's and losing to Butler.
Temple - 8-3 - beat DePaul but lost to Hampton.

Some will excel in their conferences. Depending on how things play out, Temple and St. John's could be considered for an at-large bid to the NCAA, I think (and maybe JMU as well). The problem is that they don't play in strong conferences and didn't have strong OOC schedules, however, they probably had average OOC schedules for their level and their conferences can send multiple teams. To be seen . . .
