Did anyone notice that the last time RU didn't have the lead was with 9:50 left in the 1st half?

Rutgers

Betnijah 17 points (7-10, 1-1 3 pt, 2-3 ft), 10 reb, 7 a, 4 to, 1 b, 2 s - a really dominant performance

Shrita 8 points (3-5, 1-2 3 pt, 1-2 ft), 4 reb, 0 a, 0 to, 0 b, 0 s

The team shot 44.4%, 50.0% (2-4) from 3, and 63.6% from the line. They scored 22 points in the paint, 8 points off turnovers, 9 2nd chance points, 4 fast break points and 14 bench points. They had 42 rebounds, 16 assists (on 24 baskets, which ain't bad), 17 turnovers (not great), 6 blocks and 7 steals.

Michigan

Smith 19 points (7-17, 1-3 3 pt, 4-4 ft), 8 reb, 2 a, 4 to, 1 b, 1 s
Thompson 14 points (4-20, 2-13, 4-4 ft), 5 reb, 2 a, 1 to, 0 b, 2 s - about the least efficient 14 points you'll ever see
Flaherty 6 points (1-11, 0-7 3 pt, 4-4 ft), 0 reb, 0 a, 1 to, 0 b, 0 s - an awful game other than at the line
Goree 5 points (2-8, 1-2 ft), 9 reb, 1 a, 3 to, 0 b, 0 s
Dunston 2 points (1-3), 5 reb, 1 a, 0 to, 0 b, 1 s
Elmblad 4 points (2-3), 4 reb, 1 a, 1 to, 0 b, 1 s
Williams 0 points (0-0, 0-0 ft), 4 reb, 0 a, 1 to, 0 b, 1 s
Ristovski 0 points (0-3, 0-2 3 pt), 0 reb, 1 a, 1 to, 0 b, 2 s
Stapleton - 1 reb, 1 b in 4 minutes

The Spartans shot 26.2%, a horrific 12.0% from 3 (and they took 25 of them) and a stellar 92.9% from the line. They scored 22 points in the paint, 14 points off turnovers, 9 2nd chance points, 10 fast break points and 8 bench points. They had 40 rebounds, 8 assists, 13 turnovers, 2 blocks and 8 steals.

One interesting stat is that the Michigan starters shot a collective 15-48 (31.2%), while the bench shot 2-17 (11.8%). That last number is mostly Flaherty, but she was in for 26 minutes, so presumably KBA had a reason for that.

As they have probably played in the same high school conference (probably not simultaneously,) Essie and Flaherty must know of each other, could even have worked out together. It was Essie's defense (among others as we did play some zone) that, for the second time this season, shut her down.

A few weeks ago we had difficulty defending the three, and this may have contributed to Ohio State and Iowa losses. The last several games were different, as we have played in your face perimeter defense, and while teams still had some open looks, I think they were so rattled that they rushed their shots.

Now, when we played Iowa ,Dixon was in an unconscious state and everything went in, and this hot streak continued for games before and after the game at the RAC. I think she has cooled down considerably, but my point is that there are times when it is difficult to limit a hot shooter. This is all the more reason that there are games when we have to figuratively "outscore" the opponent.
