Boring tourney.

Too many "power conferences" represented.

FDU was amazing. But, the tourney's "joyous" moments are diminishing.

Princeton wins! We have a 15 in the sweet 16. Can 16 FDU get in as well?

FT shooting has been atrocious so far. Kansas' FT shooting is a key factor for them losing. Auburn's FT shooting is why they're trailing Houston. Houston has looked just awful the last 2 weeks. Not sure what has happened but this isn't the same team that made a lot of good teams look bad this season. When was the last time we had 3 #1 seeds gone the 1st weekend?

I think you're going to have to hope for an Alabama loss tonight, to make that happen. Houston has played fairly well in the last minutes of this game.

Auburn missed 17 FTs. And most were missed when the game was still in doubt. And when you only make 4 FGs in the 2nd half you better make your FTs

Cougs win. Auburn can’t hit free throws. Also Pearl looks like the Dad from the Goldberg’s.

Houston turned up the defensive pressure in the last 8 minutes of the game but their offense still looked bad for most of the game. They hit some timely shots late and their FTs combined with the good D.

Houston played more like the Houston we’re familiar with in the second half. Thursday they were lethargic and that carried over to the first half today but the second half they were rebounding with energy and getting to loose balls. They need to bring all the energy they have next week.

You may be missing the point....Houston started late in the first half, or certainly at the start of the
second half playing Hack-A-Shaq with that big center....It worked!! He hit well less than half of a whole
bunch....Meanwhile Houston's bench, and they may have the best one I have ever seen save their
Phi-Slama-Jama team, which was loaded with BB players, carried them on to victory.....

My wife and I drove down from Wichita (Derby, actually} in the spring of '82 to watch that team beat
TU sans David Brown at ORU in the NCAAs..That TU team ('81-'82) would probably rank with our best
if David was playing @ full capacity....He actually never played @ all after his injury.....

In thinking back, I remember Nolan saying..."The thing about David, He worked by the hour pre
season in their first season together...@ first, he couldn't get his shot off against Paul....After some
weeks, that wasn't true....Another thing Nolan said......You don't realize it, but I doubt if there are
two forwards in the NBA that can outrun David in a foot race...Nolan thought David had an NBA
career ahead of him.....

Recouping from serious knee injury is a lot easier now than it was then....Hard to believe, but that
was some 42 years ago...Too bad, but that injury was the end of David's career.....

My memory is that David did make a comeback and re-injured his knee early in his first game back. Had we won that Houston game we would have had a real shot at the final four.

Do you mean in '82-83? Because he wasn't even on the roster that year. After his injury in '81-82 he was out for the rest of the season. Missouri would have been tough in the next round, but we would have had a pretty good shot at it.

Still believe we are in final 4 with brown. He was our best offensive player and hell of a rebounder. Pressey stole the defensive show.
Brown tried to rest most of the year and came back for the tournament with a brace but unable to go.
He hurt his knee celebrating after a dunk. Freak ACL injury.

I agree TU is in the Final 4 with David Brown in 1982. My memory is that he hurt his knee stomping his foot after a bad call by the refs.

Brown came back a few games later and re-injured his knee. If NCAA hadn't counted exhibition games in the number of games counted towards redshirting, he could have come back in 1983.

He tried to play later in the year with his leg wrapped heavily, but it lasted a minute. He was suited up for Houston game, but can't remember if he got in.

I saw a game on TV where he later was playing in the CBA, and was playing well.

Ironically, the guy who replaced Brown in the lineup, Bruce Vanley, who did well, hurt his knee late in 1984 and misses MVC tourney. He tried to play against Louisville in NCAA with heavily wrapped leg, but it didn't last a minute. TU beats Louisville with Vanley and is in Sweet 16.
