I trust the staff, but seems like the merry go round is stopping and we haven’t gotten off yet. I fear we’ll be left with plugging holes with “upside” guys.

Long way to GO....BUT It is Scary to think of the roster if Ron and Geo don’t return, miss on Harrar and/or Paulicap, and we scramble to add a couple juco or non descript transfers

Paul, Miller
Caleb, Jones, Mag
Palmquist
Cliff, Reiber

JUCO Baker? And a JUCO BIG

The mystery for this team is how good our freshmen will be this year. With so little playing time (aside from Cliff) this past year, only Pike and staff knows where their development is right now and with a summer of working on their games will they be ready to make the next step. Be great to see a RH Barrett type of improvement for one of our guys. If Pike is not overly involved in portal, it just may be he sees some nice things with our young guys. He may also see Jalen Miller getting some key back up minutes at PG.
The unknown we have with our youth needs the development of Pike , something he takes great pride. He will be put to the test and he needs success here if he expects to sustain NCAA berths.

I believe once RHJ and Geo determine their destinations we will see the roster gel.
On Tez’s Instagram post where he announced he had committed to St. John’s, RHJ commented:

“My boy only a city away ❤️

Now I could very easily be reading way too much into it but that also kinda sounds to me like Harper is expecting to stick around.

I should just copy this text into a note to make it easier to post over and over.

RHJ will be at Rutgers next year.

The only reason he wouldn't be is because he is done with Rutgers.
College players who are happy in college and have eligiblity generally don't stay in the draft as a projected late 2nd/undrafted pick.

I firmly believe Ron and Geo will be back.

I do not think leaving as a late 2nd rounder is worth it and Geo isn’t getting drafted regardless.
Do people really think either could be a late 2nd Rounder this year? Can’t see it. If Harper gets in shape and has a good senior year, I could see him being drafted after next season.

I do not. If Ron kept his early season production easily, but he was streaky to say the least. He appears on a few random boards many he is not even on, I’m saying if that’s his projection for a kid with his family and no dire need for cash it’s not worth it. He comes back and consistently does what he did he’ll be a late first rounder easy.

He just finished his true junior season, didn't go to prep school, is the normal age for someone in his class, and doesn't come from a family where he needs to make money now. So he's presumably doing this to get additional feedback so he can come back and be a much higher draft pick next year and have a longer and more successful career as a pro. If he was completely done with being at RU, presumably he also would have entered the portal by now.

Corey. But I’m sure Ron has better advisors.

I can see him getting drafted. I saw him get a lot of huge rebounds when there were 7 footers all around him. I saw him guard 1-4 on switches and almost never get beat. I saw him make some incredibly tough shots. I saw him corral loose balls with strong hands. I saw him block a lot of shots. His shooting was streaky but he has a lot of ability. We expect him to score 20 every night but that will not be his role at the next level. He’s a player.

If Ron Harper truly wants a shot at the next level, he should find out what type of off season regimen Julius Randle used this past year. While Randle was a player before last year, he clearly worked hard at taking his game and conditioning to another level.

Other than the coaches, any one of the rotation players from last year could tell you everything you need to know about the freshman class, if you had access to one of them.
Geo, Paul or RHJ could tell you exactly what Palmquist, Mag, Jones and Reiber have to offer.
Cliff will be fine.
