Reading his 'thanks, but no thanks,' message on twitter he seems determined to hold nearly all of his staff in tact, with significant pay raises for all. And South Carolina balked when they saw the overall price tag. If and when he gets his promotion and payday, he could be a real force if he's going the Dabo route of keeping lieutenants close and building loyalty. Loose lips sink ships and and he won't have to waste time training new coaches with a learning curve due to attrition.

Either that, or the SC brass heard him speak and were like, "really, this is the guy?"

How this could eff with State...

(Granted, this is worst case...) If Beamer gets Spurrier JR. to go to SC, and we lose our two out-of-state 4* receivers, that would be adult film quality suckage.

Maybe he saw the writing on the wall that Beamer was going to be their guy so he pulled his name to save face. I'd say Beamer is definitely more of a gamble than Napier would have been.

Maybe i'm missing something but in that tweet he never says or implies he was offered the job.

You're right about LSU...don't know about Auburn. LSU would think back to the time the Mississippi Southern corch was hired...his name now escapes me.

I always heard there are some skeletons in his closet that would take a school and fanbase with an "all in" attitude to accept. Auburn being one of those school. Texas couldn't do it because of Austin. I also think he is overplaying his hand to drum up interest.

Maybe he’s just happy making $1-million / year without having to deal with everything that comes with a P5 job.

Give me a high salary with a lesser amount of responsibility... I’m happy

and Lafayette is a nice town ..there are a lot of worse places to be stuck making a million a year

Meh.... some decent pockets, but it has its dumpy areas too. Not sure why that area didn’t develop more north of 1-10 at the main exits, instead of down on the southern end near 190, Kaliste Saloom, and the Johnston Street area near the University.
