sigh of relief when Tez' signs as well.

Gonna be sad not seeing Williams/Freeman/Probably Corey next year. Teams in good hands tho.

"He's been great for us in his progression as a player, on and off the court," said Don Bosco Prep Head Coach Kevin Diverio. "I think his best days are ahead of him. I don't think he's near the kind of player that he will end up being. I think that potential was what Rutgers saw in him that some other people missed out on. He comes from a great family, with both his mom and his dad being Division I players. His game has evolved since last year. He's been a leader on our team and someone that we look to score, rebound and defend. He's really embraced his role and run with it.

I saw him play last year in March in the Tournament of Champions. He can shoot and he can rebound. Our weight room trainer will work wonders on him. He will be a very good player for RU.It is also great to get a very good NJ player from the Parochial A State Champs.

Great article on RH Jr. Also, Pike continues to be a class act and phenomenal face of the RU basketball program....

"Rutgers? Well, there’s a intriguing story behind that too. Growing up, Harper Jr. went to some Rutgers camps, and he didn’t get the best impression of former coach Mike Rice. He told himself he’d never go back."

Glad he gave Rutgers a second chance.

Shows how long an impact prior coaches can have on the recruiting scene, and how long it can take a new coach to turn around perceptions. Harper had already made up his mind on Rutgers at least 5 years ago... and thankfully Pike was able to reopen that door. How many other players have written us off because of experiences with either Rice or Jordan, where Pike is already starting in a hole?

Did a little research. His Mom's name is Maria Harper (formerly Pizarro). 100% Fillipino. Her and Ron are divorced but both go to his games and are very supportive of his basketball career. Maria was a star guard at the University Of New Orleans in the mid 90s, started an AAU organization for high school girls basketball. Also was an asst. coach at Paterson Catholic and I believe the head women's coach at DePaul. She's 43, looks 23. She did have a little oops moment... DUI where she hit a pole/mailbox I think, near their home in Franklin Lakes. Not good.

All this stuff is... well... on the internet. :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

Either way, looking forward to seeing Ron Jr. at RU next year, as well as Ron Sr. and Maria. Ron Jr. can really shoot! But he also has other good aspects of his game as he looks to be very versatile.
