According to Cash, Kris landed with a beer in one hand and the demo in the other, walked up to him half drunk, gave him the demo of ā€œSunday Morning Coming Downā€ and ā€œMe & Bobby McGee,ā€ and left the same way he came.

A real cowboy. Unlike all these fake southern suburban musicians who make a living singing about how country the south is.

Man what a bummer. My labs are named Johnny and Waylon. And my sister has a pup named June. What I would give to see the highway Men perform. Will never see something like it ever again.

A little Outlaws trivia: Waylon Jennings was a guitarist in Buddy Holly's band and was supposed to be on the plane "the day the music died". He gave up his seat to Richie Valens who was suffering from a cold and didn't want to travel on a cold drafty bus to the next gig. Different days.

We have 8 chickens. I named one of them June Carter cash. Not June, but June Carter Cash. Damn fine chicken I might add. She has contributed to many delicious omelettes. Now Dolly is kind of a slacker

I may have told this story here before. My brother had a boss 20- 25 years ago who was a really good friends with Poodie Locke, Willie's stage manager for something like 30 years. Poodie died pretty young at 60 years old in 2009. I took the old boss and my brother bird hunting back in Nebraska a couple of times in the early 2000s. We stayed at the Big Red Motel in Laurel, Nebraska. So, anyway the old boss was around all these guys, Willie, Kris, Waylon Cash, etc. in very informal settings. He claims Waylon and Willie were always teasing Kris how he couldn't sing. Kind of a running joke just to tweak Kris.

Nothing better than farm fresh eggs. I prefer the brown ones myself although I have been told by many people there's no difference. I disagree. Brown eggs better and tend to have more yolk to white imo

Kris easily had the worst voice amongst the Highwaymen, Waylon had the biggest coke addiction, Willie literally never played on key, but with Cash added to that group, man did it work...gawd I wish I could have seen them perform....my grandpa had a custom harvest biz back in the day based out of Newton KS and to this day I remember the classic country stars on the radio's of the grain trucks, Waylon's signature wings on tbeir belt buckles...what an era.
