So apparently Chandler Miller, TU's sophomore C is on the watch list this upcoming season...how many fake
snaps does it take to get you removed from that list?
Apparently, our O-line will turn out to be younger than it has been in a long time.....If so, pre-snap penalties
will be a problem.....The group of fr. coming in certainly has some potential, but hopefully, we have enough returning
talent so that most of the fr. can red shirt.....

This kid is apparently really good as a blocker but he was a FR last season in Monty's system. He really needs to not be so tentative on the snaps as it cost us quite a few penalty yards last season and with the way our defense struggles to get stops, little things like that can be the difference between winning and losing close games. I'm not hating on the kid and I want him to succeed and be on this list for 3 years. If we do have FR starting on the line this coming season, Miller will need to be on point with his protection calls. Unlike the simplistic approach to playing O-line in The Blind Side, you can't simply just block the guy right in front of you all the time and it often starts with the C making that call.

BLA..... "Monty's System" is symplistic for the offensive line. They only have a few running plays with their favorite run being mostly one back power. Their pass protections are few and symplistic as well. Miller was a freshman last year. Let the kid grow up. Of course he was gonna make some mistakes last year. With a season and another spring under his belt I'm sure he will be much better at preventing what you call "tenative snaps".

Ya, we don't pull a lot of guards or tackles. From the video I watched when Monty was hired, he kind of explained that the line is usually going to block like it's in pass protection no matter what. It's up to the QB to read the back 7 and see if he has any matchup advantages on the pass play design that's been called... if he decides the opponent is dropping all their men into coverage, then he's going to actually let the ball go to the RB on the play action.

Chandler is a tremendous blocker who is still learning the OC position after playing guard in HS. He will be much better on eliminating the snap mistakes he made last year imo.
